I really am curious about other peoples experiences on the matter, it just makes sense to me.

Like, to have someone live with you under that context, you need a good amount of empathy to the slave, as well as the experience to make it work.

though who knows, I am probably wrong. :P

having an opinion is never wrong.

In my opinion.....people are Dominant when they think they are..no matter what background...they just need someone that fits them that is submissive.

Status: offline 		"Has" to is a highly subjective notion which pertains to individual perceptions. No one "has" to do or be anything to attain excellence in any arena of life, unless the person themselves feel it is so. That being said, I muddled along the edge of this life for years, watching and waiting for answers, fell deeply in love with My Dominant soulmate, and thought that perhaps I needed to submit to this good Man, and did so. As much as I love Him, it was not for Me, and though I remained in the relationship (and later married Him), the decision for Me to be uncollared and to find Myself in a different way was mutual and for the very best. I learned so much about Myself as a Woman and a human being in this world by the aforementioned experiences, that I cannot easily imagine Myself without having gone through it - so perhaps, for Me in particular, it was necessary, but there again, perhaps not so for everyone.

I am a dominant person. I would not make a good submissive.

I do not enjoy or get anything from pain, and discipline would not make me behave better, it would make me rebel. So, explain to me please what exactly I would learn from such an experiment?

If I do not like pain, then I learn nothing about someone who enjoys it, or even needs it. If I do not enjoy discipline and control, then I learn nothing about someone who craves it. So, essentially, aside from learning that I am a terrible submissive, which I knew anyway, I am not going to learn jack and crap about being dominant by submitting!

I dont learn to throw a whip better by feeling it when it his me. I dont learn to use a crop better by being struck by one. I cant learn how to tie a better knot just by being tied up myself. If you are not a submissive type, forcing yourself to endure it just to make others believe you will be a better dominant is stupid.

While it might work for some people, assuming it should apply to everyone is ridiculous.

Does that mean that the inverse is true? To be a better submissive, should they be Dom first? Why not? Why would our being in their shoes make us better, and not vice versa? You never hear anyone saying that to be a better sub you should have dommed first, now do you?

Status: offline 		no i don't believe that. in fact i'd probably question what brought him from that place to dominance because it would be a radical change. i'd wonder if he was fulfilled in his slavery and if his capacity to yield that deeply has diminished or had merely been put away due to negative experiences.
