As a straight mail submissive, I can tell you that I have met many dominant women in chatrooms, consider a number of them to be friends, and also met my lady there. I dont' think prospects are as dismal as many say.

It's not difficult if you're patient enough. Generally people want to feel comfortable (and safe, of course) before they agree to a meet-up.

Not to state the obvious, but, if you carefully select, get to know and gradually trust the other person, then mutually agreed-to plans made carefully, in advance stand a very good chance of success. If this seems too slow, I would say that erring on the side of caution is wise, not unwise.

I used to at least take a cursory look around CM (why not, it's free...), but never found anyone remotely close to what I'm seeking, so fell out of the habit.

I have had success posting my own ads on Craigslist in the past.

One difference is that with CL , you can search a page full of headlines that the people wrote themselves, whereas here you only see username and age, so you have to go to their profile...most often to realize there's no potential there.

After a dozen or so times of doing that it gets old.

Still like the forums, though.

I met my Dom on another popular BDSM personals site where I have a free account, and also met offline with two other potential Doms before him from the same site. I've also made a real life friend of a sub from that same site, and we now go horse riding together regularly. So, a Dom and a good friend - pretty successful.
