SurrenderForMe -> RE: The Movie "Exit to Eden" (4/18/2009 11:12:46 PM)

I was bummed by the movie and the book.  If I remember correctly, Rice's son died somewhere around that time.  She went from being a player to being a hurt mom.  The book was good for about 50% and then went to hell.  The movie was an attempt to introduce it to mainstream and so failed.  Dana was good.  The Australian was hot.  But in the end, not enough to carry it to victory.

I didn't discover my sexuality through books so I can't comment on that.

SnowRanger -> RE: The Movie "Exit to Eden" (4/18/2009 11:56:53 PM)

I must concur.  The book lost me about half way through.

azropedntied -> RE: The Movie "Exit to Eden" (4/19/2009 12:24:03 AM)

i dug the book , the film had some  decent points to it .I would rather see Preaching to the perverted  over this though .I will admit when Dana looks up and says "bathe me' i was like where is the sponge ..

lizi -> RE: The Movie "Exit to Eden" (4/19/2009 2:11:40 PM)

Never saw the movie, the book was interesting. I got my wake up call from a man I met on a vanilla dating site. After getting to know him he introduced me to the concept of D/s and although we didn't last I've never looked back. No more vanilla sites or men for me....

Joseff -> RE: The Movie "Exit to Eden" (4/19/2009 2:44:08 PM)

I was already far gone into BDSM when the movie came out, that happened many years before when I found ads for Japanese bondage magazines in an old Playboy, probably around age 12. That would be 1976, for those not willing to do the math. Since the movie came out before Rosie became the troll she is now, I was able to enjoy it, but the BDSM was just a used as a comic background. As far as the book, when I learned it was written by Anne Rice, I intended to read it if I ever came across it, but I've never been able to get much farther than half way through any of her books. As for Dana Delany, yup, she's Hot.

mum had a nice book stash in her closet. like most curious youth i found the books and began to read them. i was fortunate to have a parent that loved reading twisted erotica. needless to say it would form the foundation of my interests. while i didn't explore them for quite some time, i can honestly admit that i got a lot of kink from that closet. of course this brings into question things about her that i'd rather not ask. [:D]

EXIT TO EDEN?! LOL!!!

No way. You're kidding, right?

They must have been really young, to not have had any meaningful exposure before that movie.

I was nearly 30 when it came out in 1994, and have been D/s all my life. Since I was a tiny tot.

try the sleeping beauty series by a n roquelaure.  same author [:)]

the claiming of sleeping beauty
beauty's punishment
beauty's release

those are pretty steamy.

oh and while i enjoyed the movie exit to eden, it was more for the comedic value.  seeing rosie torment dan akroyd was really funny to me....the bdsm seemed pretty glossed over (havent gotten the book read yet, although i do have it).

I wouldn't go with iconic.  I read the Anne Rice book.
The movie is amusing if you totally eject from your mind that the book exists.
Dana Dulaney is hot as is the Aussie guy.  Eye candy.  Yum!  :>

pinnipedster -> RE: The Movie "Exit to Eden" (4/20/2009 10:32:46 PM)

Haven't read the book, though I was well aware the film was only very loosely based on it.

The film had a few funny moments, and a few hot ones, but on the whole I found it annoying.  I got the impression of Rosie O'Donnell's character beaming at these odd little people and saying, "Gosh, look how tolerant I'm being!"  I hate that kind of patronization.  And the film really pushes one of my buttons: some people just find BDSM to be funny.  As in, "Wow, it's really funny that people would really want to do that kind of thing!"  And I hate, hate, hate that.  To me it's a little like laughing at someone's religion, or making fun of their kids.

Well, regardless of how retarded the whole movie is, that clip was hot! It seemed real, not too showy.

The Secretary was what made me feel somewhat "normal." But it wasn't until a Nine Inch Nails music video that it occurred to me to finally look into things. And the first site I found upon googling...CM!

hardbodysub -> RE: The Movie "Exit to Eden" (4/21/2009 7:27:47 AM)

I didn't read the book, and thought the movie sucked, but Dana Delaney was way hot. Even the "hot" bondage scene did not seem real to me. The dialogue was boring, and the femdom/malesub dynamic just didn't seem realistic at all. In fact, as I recall it, by the movie's end, Delaney seemed more in dependent on the sub than he was on her.

HalloweenWhite -> RE: The Movie "Exit to Eden" (4/21/2009 8:34:02 AM)

My interest started in college when I noticed how unbelievably hot it was to dominate (or, as I saw it back then, be dominant towards) 2 girlfriends of mine. It took a long time to find out there was a whole community doing the same thing.

it was completely, totally unintentional and accidental.  there was no movie or book that spoke to this slave that made sense of it all---it wasn't a sexually based fantasy of being dominated in the bedroom by an otherwise vanilla partner.  it was a desire to be dominated and controlled by an Alpha Male...and sadly, all this slave came into contact with in the vanilla arena was either men looking for a female to essentially dominate the relationship/bedroom activities or abusive jerks with no integrity, no job and no intelligence.

this slave went to the MD to obtain some kind of help to quit smoking, a little over 6 years ago.

the MD offered a prescription for Welbutrin, the recommendation to use nicotine patches, as well as a bit of advice.

the advice part went like this:

"You have to change your LIFESTYLE.  Make friends that aren't smokers, take up activities that don't include smoking or lend themselves to the opportunity to smoke...really, a total change of LIFESTYLE."

He emphasized the word LIFESTYLE so many times in our short conversation that the word "LIFESTYLE" went round and round in this slave's head the whole 30 minute drive home.  exasperated, this slave googled "LIFESTYLE" and lo and behold, there were websites dedicated to alternative lifestyles.  this particular "alternative lifestyle" WIITWD- D/s-M/s relationships and BDSM activities was something that this slave had desired from her first formation of fantasies as a wee one as well as the relationship dynamic that she had sought out amongst the vanillas all of her adult life---to no avail.

all of this slave's previous vanilla partners had been repulsed at her masochism and her submissive personality/orientation and therefore the relationships were very short lived...to the point that this slave had given up on having an intimate fulfilling relationship with another in this lifetime and had resigned herself to remaining single until death.

that visit to the MD that day ended up giving this slave hope that there were folks out there who would appreciate the freaky slut that she was as well as her submissive nature...and that she had been fishing in the wrong pond for partners all those years.

shorn -> RE: The Movie "Exit to Eden" (4/21/2009 10:21:25 AM)

my husband had bought some books which i found. No hiding here, they were where we kept such stuff away from prying lil eyes. Exit to Eden, Story of O, the Beauty Series, some Gor, some Marketplace, some pictures. On advice of friends, who recognized the titles, i brought it up and suggested we try things. He enjoys me on the end of his leash as much as i enjoy being there.

W/w know some others who feel the same way and opened our marriage up to them. Haven't looked back for a minute although he was a lil startled when i suggested he marry my girl. Our relationships are similar to paper, rock, sizzors: works for us.

I was already in my 20's when that movie came out so I was long past the point of it being influential. Plus it was awful. Sorry to those that liked the movie but I thought it was simply awful. The book was better.

The Addams Family is what warped me, I was aroused by the dark eroticism between Gomez  and Morticia. I learned to read from 'The Ghastlycrumb Tinies' by Edward Gorey. So it is no wonder I turned out a wee bit odd.

Oh this is great!! It has the whole alphabet animated. Yay Gorey fun.

I don't know if they Addams Family warped Me, but it certainly influenced Me... I too loved the gothic romance between Gomez and Morticia. She was certainly his Domme!! and he sought to please Her!

I also enjoyed 9 1/2 weeks!

Manawyddan -> RE: The Movie "Exit to Eden" (4/25/2009 5:29:17 AM)

I was already an entrenched perve by the time I saw the film. I think the film is actually quite funny, and (despite the way some folks are put off) non-judgmental about scene people (sure it makes fun of them, but in the same way to my eyes that the Airplane films make fun of airlines ... everyone can use a little ribbing). On the other hand its insight into bdsm mentality is nonexistent, and it is great fun to point and laugh at the incompetence of the so-called scary domme in disciplining the uppity sub. Has one hot bondage/spanking scene.

I have tried to read a few of the Beauty books, haven't been able to force me way past page three.

fuzzywumpas -> RE: The Movie "Exit to Eden" (4/25/2009 7:05:33 AM)

[&:]  There was a movie about it? I just remember Paul Mercurio (the Aussie who played Elliott) running around half-nekkid and looking DAMNED HAWT! Gawds, what an ass.....

MainFragger -> RE: The Movie "Exit to Eden" (4/27/2009 12:15:02 AM)

The movie was rediculous.. But one of my video fetishes is naked celebs, so between Iman and Dana Delaney, I was happy to watch it.. The idea of her naked butt sitting on my back definately sends some nice little tingles to my back and my second brain..

I think I am still trying to realize that I am into this scene, but the first thing that sort of really started me thinking about it was someone I met at DragonCon a few years ago who was into REALLY rough sex. I had already been photographing fetish events, but I think she gave me the desire to stop being a strict voyeur and to join in on the fun..
