$4500.00.    Man oh man.  Think of how you can go wild on that amount.  Heck- ya never would have to work again.

Typically bullies at TSA.   You aren't required to answer those questions...none of their business.

Perhaps he was confused that he was in a land of freedom?  If he had half the talent that Rumsfeld or Obama have to dodge questions, this would never have been a story.

My FUCKING GAWWWWDDDD!!!!!

A man goes through TSA (airport security) with $4,700.00 (it was $4,700.00...not $4,500.00)...and he's detained????

I go through airport security/travel all the time with 9 or 10 grand in my pocket all the time@!!!!

Sometimes I buy trucks in odd places when I travel and have them shipped back to Seattle....sometimes I'm entertaining clients....

Is there a fucking problem in this country carrying cash????

My FUCKING GAWWWWDDDD!!!!!

Back in my grand daddy's America, they'd have said "people won't stand for it!", and I've heard a tale or two, that there were some people in Stalin's Russia who "didn't stand for it".  What ever happened to good ol' Rock N Roll?

We are talking about hunk boy here.  He brings new meaning to the definition of "frugal".

Except you don't get on your flight otherwise, so what choice do you have?

Dang... I carried over 11,000. in mostly fifties when I left Colorado.  Glad I didn't get pulled over!  All I was doing was buying something cash when I got here and we didn't want banking problems.  That poor guy!  I don't think four thousand odd dollars in cash while traveling is a bad thing if you feel safe carrying it.  People used to do it all the time.

(I suspect he was referring to the potential lawsuit).

Question:
If they detain you and you miss your flight...don't they have to send you on another?!

I mean, come on...if you missed it because of THEM and they didn't arrest you for anything....oops, their fault...right??

Just a couple security agents on a power trip. I think everyone of them should undergo psychiatric evaluations for mental temperament and social behaviour.

LOL.  What I mean is the $4500/$4700 buys very little.  Maybe it did in 1970.  but not in 2009.

A few people I know carry a large amount of money on them.  Well- under 10k- but more then a trip for a carton of milk.

I tend not to- for years I worked at a gas station. So I never had more then $30 on me.   $4700 would not buy much of a cruise or many 2 week vacations.   Not known is if he was going out of the country.  Moving over 10k across national lines has rules...but state lines???  no.

If it were me- I would not have had the cash in a tote bag. I would have it ON ME.  Travelling- well- can attract being mugged- especially if you look like a tourist.

I suspect- the Political stickers in his bag were a factor.
