How long would be the normal time to meet in person once you  meet on-line?

Surrenderwithin -> RE: How long would be the normal time to meet Real Time once you meet on-line? (12/9/2008 12:21:50 AM)

I think that depends on the comfort level of the people involved, the distance between the two parties, what safety factors can be set into place and how quickly. I personally prefer to move from online to real life quickly. There are too many people online claiming to be who and what they are not. I prefer to remove the doubt sooner than later and work from there. This can be a negative thing as well if a person takes that step before they are actually ready for a face to face interaction, however it works best for me. I do not want to invest my time and energy into a font or screen name. I need to know a real person who is true to themselves, and believe they represent themself accurately is running the font.

Just my two cents,
Maggi

I think it's 40 days, but it might be 50, I'm not sure.

To be serious, I think it ranges from a week or so to multiple years, but it could happen sooner, or even later.  :S

Depends on the person and the comfortableness of the chit chat back and forth.

It all depends on the 'Meet By' date of the person concerned, which is usually:

12 days for dominants
15 days for switches
18 days for submissives.

Please note that those who haven't been met by their 'Meet By' dates automatically become fakes.

Also please be aware that some submissives will explode if not met within the 18 days, and usually without even excusing themselves.

*snorts at Stellas post*

I was thinking more along the lines of 15 minutes for people on the same continent, 48 hrs for international meets...

Depends on how close they are to me. If they are close; within one week. If they are out of state, within two.

1-2 weeks

It completely depends.  If it's someone local, I invite them to attend the next social or meet and greet.  If it's someone from a distance, it could take a while.  Airfare isn't exactly cheap when trying to get a ticket immediately.

I only meet local people.

That's My general rule as well, but there have been exceptions to it.  Not something I would likely do again, but it has happened before.

If you live nearby, try to set up a coffee meet for as soon as possible. If you aren't local, then whenever your schedules align.

To me it isn't important if you meet sooner than later, though sooner is almost always desirable. What IS important is to follow all the safety rules for a first meet. Meet in a public place, where you both arrive separately and leave separately. Let a friend know you are going, and roughly how long you expect to be. Don't go somewhere alone with someone on the first meet. I know a lot of people do it without any dire consequences, but they, never the less, are rolling the dice with their safety. If the connection is there, what's the rush? It will only grow stronger.

Personally I like to meet as soon as possible. If you have emailed back and forth, chatted on the phone a few times, and there seems to be chemistry there, go for it. Too many people in this lifestyle want to do ichat for weeks, emails for weeks, phone calls for weeks. It gives them a false sense of security because even if you talk for two years, you still won't really know who they are until you MEET. I'm not suggesting you should rush into anything you are not comfortable with. Just saying that if the chemistry seems to be there, how convenient to find out sooner rather than later whether it was or not.

If a meeting doesnt occur in 2 to 3 weeks and you live close, something is up.

came4U -> RE: How long would be the normal time to meet Real Time once you meet on-line? (12/9/2008 10:20:43 AM)

Yes, it depends.  Sometimes it took 2-3 years to meet someone, other times mere hours.  Depends what I have going on in my life (or not).

CatdeMedici -> RE: How long would be the normal time to meet Real Time once you meet on-line? (12/9/2008 10:22:24 AM)

Whatever is deemed comfortable and safe.

Mercnbeth -> RE: How long would be the normal time to meet Real Time once you meet on-line? (12/9/2008 10:22:58 AM)

there is no normal...only what is comfortable and right for you.

I prefer people meet me at the local munch.  It is more of a safety outlet for me.  At least other people will have a chance to actually see someone I might be spending time with.  If it is long distance, that makes it a little harder.  I have to say though, that if both people are wanting to take things to the next level of a meet, they will find a way to do it within months, long enough to arrange things with each person's work & family obligations.  If you are in different country's, I could see where that might take a couple years.

As you can see, some have opinions, and the comedians don't have a clue. :) We can only tell you what WE would like to do.

1. A few email exchanges to see if there is some eye to eye in what you're both looking for, as well as "getting along" factor.
2. Possibly a phone call or more to see if the above is still true.
3. Discuss possible meeting places that both are comfortable with. (I like Barnes and Noble or a coffee shop)
4. Meet at agreed location and see if you enjoy each other's company.

Basic safety rules apply: Public locations until you both feel comfortable with semi-public, and then let the dating begin if it's mutual.

It doesn't have to be complicated, just keep in mind that while it's like a blind date, there was no friend making a recommendation.

There is No normal time... there is only the amount of time that the people specifically involved decides is appropriate.  Generally people meet when they are ready!.. but not always.
