There seems to be hope that the new Obama led administration will turn things around. I see absolutely no sign of it. We are still living the "hope" slogan.

Me either.

And I personally feel betrayed and disappointed.

I would have thought he would have everything turned around by now.  I mean he's been President for how long already?....................................................Oh wait, he's not? ...................................Well that's absolutely no excuse in my book!

With Obama as president, the only change you will see is less 'change' in your pocket.

Someone asked earlier how states run "in the black". By statute the State of Indiana is not allowed to run a deficit. Over the years they have acquired surpluses and they budget in a way that they do not overspend their income. If they were to go over by any amount they use the surplus to cover it. It will be tougher as the property taxes decline, sales tax revenues decline and the state income tax declines so, the next step will be "less services", cuts in government employee numbers and perhaps raising taxes. Indiana started the move away from the auto industry many years ago although, they still have huge numbers of automotive jobs, against the percentages of auto jobs of the 60's and 70's it is quite a bit less.
Obama's infrastructure plan is indeed hopeful, how it is done is the concern. If the Government has to administer the plan themselves as opposed to letting contracts to private corporations I am afraid it might fail. If you look at a city like Atlanta, were the sewer system is in such disrepair it will take billions to repair, there is plenty of work to be done but the city cannot afford to pay for it. They have done better through special options sales taxes and we rarely hear of the "water main break" that was so prevalent just a few years ago. The bridges across the United States are in terrible dis-repair and pose a danger in some cases(see Minnesota).
We need so many things and we need so much in the way of economic development, I hope everything Obama does or tries to do succeeds and I think he will work hard to make the things happen, including getting through the bureaucracy to be successful! I do not remember any pre inaugural Presidency as we are seeing now, stepping into the leadership void of a lame(if not the lamest) duck Presidency in such a way as to have an impact prior to taking office.

.....unfortunately it's for 500,000 people.......The government in NJ "creates" jobs every day.  In fact many of our county and state officials have multipe jobs with multiple pensions and free 100% health care for life.  When we rely on the government to create our jobs it then means they also have the power to take them away.  We become bitches to a bloated, corrupt beauracratic system of patronage.

About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new constitution in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh , had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years earlier:
‘A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government.'
'A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.'
'From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.'
'The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years'
'During those 200 years, those nations always progressed through the following sequence:
1. From bondage to spiritual faith;
2. From spiritual faith to great courage;
3. From courage to liberty;
4. From liberty to abundance;
5. From abundance to complacency;
6. From complacency to apathy;
7. From apathy to dependence;
8. From dependence back into bondage'

Change this line: From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.'

to

From that moment on, the majority's vote will be ignored, the party in power will manipulate the electoral college in favor of the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury for their corporate constituents, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.'

And you got it!
