I started out as Nexis spelled differently then nexus as I was at a point in my life when I was learning all about the lifestyle and what it had to offer. Changed my name to Malice when I relized that I liked to hurt people and read the definition for the word to mean that. Changed my name to Cruel-Desires when I stepped it up a notch and reached a moment of clarity that opened my eyes to more then just the basic realities of what it was to be a D. Been here for a while and do not think my nick will change any time soon.

The personality stuff is DID related, and the healing relates to the trauma that caused the splits.

Thread Hijack~
I asked this on another thread and no one responded but I am curious..what is DID?
We now return to our regularly scheduled thread. Thank you for your patience~

Dissociative Identity Disorder.  I knew a submissive once who suffered from that...what was really interesting is that a couple of her personalities were dominant and one was completely vanilla and "shocked" at what the others engaged in.

For myself, I have been known as one other name...on another site.  It was "Wings" due to the time I spent in the 82nd and the # of jumps I made.

Well, none of us are vanilla, but we do run a range of orientations, gay-straight, top-bottom, sadist-massochist.  Some parts are more dominant than others, but, none of us are what I would class as "dominant", just possibly "less submissive".

The question by the way is; Have you had former identities and what did the transition/incarnation mean for you?

I am and always have been .dark.
I do not have a need to be anything but myself in all mediums.  Master would not allow it in anycase.  He enjoys that I am simply me.
See you on the 30th Prinnie!

My online nickname has been Usagi for years, of course when it's taken I have to use something else; like Usako which is close enough. I have other back up names but it's usually along the same line, has to do with my love for anime. Though Usagi is my chosen nickname no matter what, for many reasons.

Sometimes I get called different things when I RP though, sometimes even OOC we get called our character's name to make life easier.

nearly every RP'er I know does that, I have tons of emails to my character's name although they're actually content to me personally - just happens that the sender knows me through RPing.

The interesting part was that one of the personalities...bella...was not just dominant but strictly lesbian.  She hated me because the "main" personality was submissive and bisexual and enjoyed me as a friend and respected me as a dominant.  "Bella" hated that.

I detest my given name.  It is the sort of name that people shorten to one syllable rather than use the full five letter, TWO syllable word.  WTF is with that?

When I was twenty I was able to grab some time for college and I started using anagrams of my 5 letter name to make different combo's.  I have been one of those now, for most of my life, although to my family I am always the hated one syllable name.

I have always wanted to make that change legal, only it would not go over well with my remaining parent.  As soon as she passes on, I will make it mine.

There are some traditions in indian cultures that allow for name changes at different stages of life.  I have taken that and used it for different stages of me.

But would I ever change my screen name or get a number that signifies I belong to someone?  So far, I never have.  I doubt I ever will.  I am me.  I would still be the same person I created through time and experience.  I would still be the same, quick witted, intuitive, intelligent, .. and KID, with whom I am most at home being.  If I find someone who accepts that, he accepts me, with my chosen name.  Because I worked hard to claim it and make myself live up to it.

Now email names are a whole other deal! LOL I have had so many of those I lost count.

I have been "soft" or some variation of it online (both vanilla and kinky) for as long as I have been around ... there have been two other names I have been known as - "Metelli" after Clodia Metelli the Roman aristocrat I based my dissertation on at university - I used her name as my Domme persona ... and "Silk&Steel" was an attempt to convey the two distinct sides of my personality (but everyone thought I was part of a couple/ Gorean so it never worked out)

People who know me well are aware that there is more than a little irony invested in "soft" as a nic for me. One the one hand I am a big softy, pink is my favourite colour, I suck my thumb, I have a fluffy pencil case for school, I skip and bounce when I am excited and am a big, giggling, snuggly softy. On the other hand I am very .. well .. not soft at all. At work I am on the death squad that gets sent in to break up fights, my best friend in the world refers to me as "the cold hearted bitch who doesn't do emotion", I play rugby, and if teaching ever decides not to work out .. I'm going to see what the Army has to offer. A colleague at work introduced me to a new member of staff and said .. "This is Miss Soft ... She's is in charge of blah blah ... You'll quickly discover she has a split personality" .. I like being a frigid virgin Ice Queen at work ... and attending sex clubs at the weekend ... it's still me in both places, but one bit is getting a rest.

I like being both the iron fist and the velvet glove ... and I like that depending on the inflection put in my voice when I am introduced "Soft" fits both sides of me.

To my vanilla friends, I'm known as Anna (my given name). My slave name, which means much more to me, is the name from whence Anna derives...the Hebrew name Hannah. Hannah is Hebrew for "full of grace" and was a name given to many female slaves in Roman times.

It seemed to fit on all levels, so now that is what Master calls me. Leaves me in a hapless little puddle

Ah, yeah, "Eve" (with a big E, not a little e) didn't like the Ex cos he wouldn't let her "play".  Finding people we can agree on is a challenge.
