well, i made it safely back home and, even with the varying map programs, managed to get off track there and back. court went well though. what i find amazing though is, alot of people tend to think i should not fight to get my daughter. either they tell me that she should not be moved from Oklahoma to live with me because she needs to be near her mother (keep in mind, her mother gave her up and no longer has any parental rights whatsoever anymore), since having to prove paternity since ex was never divorced from her husband (who is living a married life somewhere in Kansas, with kids of his own) they don't think i should have any rights of my own. the excuses go on and on.

to set the record straight here...i have no intentions of stopping fighting for my daughter regardless what others have told me.

just an update for those who are wondering.

Glad you guys made it back home, michael.  Good for you standing up for your parental rights.  Rest well and take it easy.

well, i went alone and returned alone...but the fight continues. luckily, my attorney did a very good job at helping maintain my parental rights and is pushing for a change of venue to Georgia. meaning she's trying to get my daughter transfered to the foster care system here in Georgia so that i will be able to see her and have an easier time getting her.

thank you for your support

OK, for some reason I thought you had a traveling companion.  Glad to hear your lawyer is doing her job on your behalf.

Michael, that was very dangerous to both yourself and other drivers on the road.  I hope you have a traveling companion or can stop and rest next time, if there is a another out of state court date.

i have to return on 12-11, but think i'm gonna try making a bid on Priceline for a round trip ticket...has to be cheaper than the car rental and gas costs. expesially of i can get one under $200.00 (which, in and of itself, is gonna be a struggle to come up with)

that was fast.

I am glad you are safe.

I hate going to court.

Luckily- nothing going on with me.
I have a relative that - each time he got a better job- or overtime the child support goes higher- but not lower. So he is trying to get that adjusted since over time is no more.

The games are so dumb.  The mother figures have the kid prompt dad to buy all the stuff that child support is "supposed" to pay for.

But then the dumb bitch should not have been after the dude solely for a meal ticket.  Once married, she quit her high powered carreer, and that would have been fine... but she insisted on the fancy house and 2 new cars on the driveway -- on 1 income.

Then when he went for a divorce- she and her mother called repeated death threats to this dude.  Just what you want when trying to put in the effort at work.

Anyhow- she has a "more appropriate" gentleman now.   Some old bald accountant.....

Im sure they are very happy....

that is....  until such point- as she makes her 'demands"...................

It makes no sense that they would rather keep this child in foster care as opposed to releasing her to a loving father.

we're talking about Oklahoma here...they're about 100 years behind the times when it comes to things. besides, the DHS caseworker struck me as having a thing against fathers. the father of my daughter's half-brother was granted full custody, but still hasn't got actual, physical custody of his son (this is the guy ex left me for)

Good to hear that you made it back in one piece, Michael.  I have to agree that OK can be pretty wonky on the whole custody/support issues.  It all depends on the DHS worker you end up with, and the judge.  I am angered but in no way surprised that they want to put the little one in foster care first before turning her over to dad.  The paternity issue, while as you explained it shouldn't be a real issue at all, but then the courts get involved...grrr.  I hope your attorney is a good one, and is really fighting for you and your little one.  Wishing you well!

BTW yeah the "rest" stops here in OK are the absolute pits!  Where are the restrooms?  And the soda machine???  All they give is a crappy table under a canopy, and you have to wonder who or what may have happened on said crappy table then you shudder and feel unclean, and we have to pay TOLL on those damn roads???

my daughter has been in Foster Care for a couple of years already...and since my ex lost or gave up custody, the case workers have been fighting me on custody because of distance.
