I find it strange when people in BDSM relationships say that they AREN'T into roleplay, to be honest. All genuine BDSM relationships are roleplay, from my point of view; if a person is not consenting, what's happening is not BDSM. If you ARE a consenting partner, you're assuming a role in a game, regardless of whether it lasts a few minutes, a few hours, or a lifetime. No happy submissive is a victim of real slavery, real rape, or real abuse--nor are they really dogs, prisoners, babies, women, etc...submissive partners in BDSM take on a lot of roles. This being said, I don't see a significant difference between playing one role or another. The East German Interrogator with her Dissident, the Baroness and her gutter trash Whore, the Wolf Goddess and her Sacrificial Virgin, the She-Biker and the boy she calls "Meat", the Prisoner and her suffering Bitch...are really, at the end of the day, no more or less "silly" and laughter-provoking than the standard porno roles of Dominatrix and Bottom are. Male dominance and female submissive roles can be equally silly, in my opinion, and can just as easily dissolve into laughter if something happens to break the mood or if someone breaks character. When I play, I want to have fun. One of my favorites lately is the demon and her captive cherub. Who can resist tearing the pinfeathers from those sweet little white wings--? [sm=evil.gif]

Hello, ShaktiSama, Yes, many do enjoy role playing. There are, however those who do not role play, but simply exist as who they are in relation to the person they are with. What term you choose to apply to describe that person- slave, submissive, whatever- is all semantics. You could call her snickerdoodle and it wouldn't change who she is and how she responds to certain people. What I mean is that some people don't decide "I'm going to act like a slave". For some, it isn't about acting "as though" and it isn't about legality, hell, it isn't even about the word "slavery". Another word for slave is "thrall" (Viking) so to be "enslaved" is to be "enthralled." For some people, when they meet the right person, they become so enthralled by that person, that their slavery is drawn out of them and they simply succumb to the other person, becoming a part of them, needing to serve them. It is something that happens to someone that is beyond their own control. A bit like falling in love... it happens to you, and you can't really stop it from happening, even if you try. For those of us who live this way, it is no more role playing than being someone's wife, or mother is role playing. Yes those may be "roles"-just as everyone has some "role" in society and in their relationships. Hope this helps shed some light, anna

L:ucy tells Charlie Brown that she's finally going to let him have sex with her, so she gets down on all fours and starts shaking her ass at him. They debate momentarily on whether this is just a trick and that she is really going to just pull away at the last moment. She finally convinces him that her intentions are sincere. So,of course, the sub comes running and, inevitably, she pulls away at the last moment and the sub flips through the air screaming "AAUGH!!!!!". The Domme later informs him that he is, in fact, a blockhead.

I was wondering if anybody here did roleplay with characters instead of archtypes. Like my friend and I have done The Doctor and the Master from Doctor Who or Owen and Ianto from Torchwood or Spike and Angel from Buffy, despite the fact that they are all men and we are both women. I was just wondering if anybody else did things like that.

No, but I'm a huge Dr. Who nerd. I'm sure I could get into something like that. Lyta Alexander and Garibaldi from Babylon 5 would be a good one. She could use her mind control powers to make him do anything she wanted, maybe bend him over his motorcycle and take his ass with a strap-on. Yes, he had a motorcycle... on a space station. Then she could wipe his memory of the entire experience, and he would be all like "I still got my eye on you!" and give her a suspicious squinty look. She could even give him false memories to explain why he's all scratched and bruised, and his ass hurts.(Thank goodness the bike wasn't scratched, but what an unfortunate landing!)
