Because 300 pound donut eating 50 year old cops on bicycles blend in so well with the rest of the Critical Mass group?

Hummm... if the cop singled out this rider for some reason, and felt that assaulting him without verbal warning was the appropriate way to stop him... why didn't that reason show up in the official report? Why did the cop try to claim the rider tried to run into him? WHY DID THE COP LIE?

I'm not sure what video you guys saw... the one they played on MSNBC went on for a couple minutes... the cop slams the rider into the curb, then he walks over to where the rider is lying in the gutter, and for a moment, the cop tries to move the bike off him. Then, a moment later, he pulls his nightstick and hits the rider twice...

Oh, and the background on the rider was supplied by the MSNBC report. If you go to the "Countdown" portion of their site, the probably have the full report available.

Was the report about "attempting to run him over" coming from the cop that tackled him, or from a cop up the street out of camera shot?  I wasn't there I didn't see what was going on off camera... so I can't say whether it was deserved or not.

I mean that in a serious sense, I am not trying to make light of the possibility that the cop was out of line, I am just putting forth a valid reason for the action.

The video clearly shows the cop running to hit the rider, not the other way around,... but as for the rest of the details....

http://gothamist.com/2008/07/29/cyclist_thrown_from_bike_by_cop_is.php

Listing exactly what time code on the video this repeated nightsticking occurs would enable everyone to look for it.
Interesting that the news media hasn't made a mention of a nightstick beating on the video, perhaps they can't see it either.
And the MSNBC report says nothing about the cyclist retiring from any police department by the age of 29, or about his father being a high official in any federal counter terrorism agency.
Countdown as in Keith Olberman's segment,  which did not have a video of the incident go on for a couple of minutes, also has none of the extra details you assert.

Other than the obvious behavior by the cop, and the follow up on his statement not matching the facts (which seems to be well on its way to getting him punished), I'm putting the rest into your 'Republicans founded the KKK' file, until some shred of evidence appears.
