I've been working and contributing to a lot of threads here, as well as real time situations.  Some are easy and some take what I would consider, a serious time commitment.  I'm not always the most articulate when it comes to what I have to say, and it takes a time investment to find the proper wording in a written medium.

I am well aware that it takes all kinds in this wonderful, mixed up world that is all of BDSM.  I wanted to ask a general question to the CM populace.  How deep is your kink pool?  Where do you see yourself in it?  Are you the light and frivolous type, or do you attribute a deeper meaning?

Lately it's just been me running through the sprinklers.

I definitely attribute a deeper meaning, and the more I experience, both physically and emotionally, the deeper I find it to be.  It's kind of like soul-searching for me, getting in touch with what's been there all along and finding such peace with it.

Interesting question. To be honest, I've never really thought about it. To do so, requires me to compare myself to others, and that is something I kinda gave up on.

Some things I enjoy, others think are hardcore. Some things others enjoy, I don't even have any interest in. I am not a social butterfly so belonging to a group or attending group events just doesn't really interest me enough, to motivate me into actually doing so. I don't take a light frivolous approach because it is a relationship style, not a hobby. Sometimes, some acts, have deeper meaning........other times, no. I am perfectly comfortable just cruising along quietly doing my thing in my own happy little pond.

I am just not sure what part of the bigger pool that does put me in.........if any.

[:D]  Funny as his answer is, Chia has hit it spot-on. Sometimes it's everything I do, other times, it needs to take a backseat to life in general. It's always a part of me, it's why I keep coming back, even though I've tried to quit. They end up just being breaks from the Lifestyle. At least now I accept that this is who I am and have an incredible partner who understands and accepts me. Some days it is a bunch of fun games, other days it's more serious. I think it's just like vanilla life, with its ups and downs.

Now, to go play at the kiddie splash pad......

Depends on the day and mood.  I'm more involved in the community than most.  See a lot more than the typical person.
Have even directed my education towards the community at large and helping them.

I know it isn't much of an answer but it depends on the day and whom we are with at the moment...what they are.

Im up to my armpits!!!, my every day (regarding the dynamic) life is pretty much the  shallow end, my BDSM partner is LDR but intense when we are together, online, phone, cam, in person, but I have been in the deep end community wise, work wise, and would ultimately ideally be in the deep end all the time, but I enjoy what I have right now. The future, I like all water play, so I will be happy to just be in the pool :)

For me it is more like the Mariana Trench than a pool. It is deep beyond imagining and I don't know that I will ever get even near to the bottom. But I DO know I will have a grand time diving ever deeper.

I jumped into the pool before I learned how to swim.

Now with more experience I find myself hanging onto the rope that divides the deep end from the shallow end.  It just depends what is going on in life, and what I am able to do.

I am in the process of starting to serve a new Domme next week. We have talked for about a month, so at least I learned to swim before I let go of the rope and enter the deep dark waters near the diving boards

It depends on the day, time, my mood, and the person I'm dealing with.  In the past, I've been sitting by the water looking at the water while wondering if I'm ready to dip my toes in.  Lately, I've been swimming where it's just shallow enough that I can stand up and keep my head above the surface.  In a few days (July 15), I'll put on my SCUBA gear and dive.  I don't expect to come up again for a long time, if ever.  I'm excited, nervous, and happy all at once.
 
Not sure if that answers the question, but it's the best I can do until I get home from work.

Even after reading other responses, I'm not entirely sure how to answer this, but...
I'm not the slap and tickle sort.
I've analyzed my kink from the top down; converting a vanilla spouse would probably have forced that if I wasn't the sort to do it naturally.
It isn't my life, but it is an inextricable part of my life.
There's a bottom to the pool, yeah, but it's pretty deep.

by "deep" do you mean devoting every waking moment living the ultimate submissive and/or Dominant BDSM experience in which some around flaunt like flags waving in the wind ...where they live 24/7 in this sans the vanilla part to themselves?

if that's what you mean, then you can say i don't. i'm submissive 24/7 for Daddy however i don't live it to the point that's all i am - there's a difference. being submissive and having a kink interests is only a tiny sliver of who i am.

in other words, you can say i'm only "deep" in the wading pool up to my knees.
