Daddyyouwantme -> Making of a Master (7/5/2008 11:30:22 PM)

It  doesn't come with education, having a house, or  having alot of money. It comes from with in and it is what you do with that part within  you that makes you a great Master.

mbes -> RE: Making of a Master (7/5/2008 11:40:21 PM)

Is there a question?
I do think being "settled" (or on the way to settled) has a little to do with it, though.

My opinion is that Men with natural Dom tendencies make the best Masters.  Also, caring enough about the slave's well-being doesn't hurt in providing a very long-term, fulfilling kinky relationship.

- Needing to be in control, and getting excited by being in control, having others trust them.
- Being able to meet the needs of the slave.
- Being able to establish trust and respect from the slave from both actions and words.
- Being able to deal with the emotional downside of giving the sub all the attention during play (and the poor Master getting none).
- Being self-sustaining.
- Able to control one's emotions in almost any situation.
- Being perceptive and aware of everything in your surroundings.
- Able to center yourself amongst your immediate environment, get the gist of it all, and push for what you want.
- Having principles/values that the slave agrees with, and sticking to them through thick and thin.
- Being able to find balance and guide a relationship to fulfill both the slave's needs and the Master's.

oh really?  is that why the grandfolks sent cards to 'master <insert young-uns name here'> until  he reached the ripe old age of five?  damn, who da thunk[sm=banghead.gif]

I forget who to quote but I have always really loved the quote " Master's are niether born nor made they are awakened."

I like that one too and it is quite in line with My Own thoughts on the matter. You can't be taught how to be a Master, if it is there then you can learn ways to express it better, if it is not there to start with then the person will never be more than a Top.

I use that word in describing my own journey as a submissive.  Awakening that part of me that I was never more than slightly aware of before.  It's interesting that the sensation is similar on the "other side of the whip."

I thought the making of the master had something to do with mixing bowls, measuring cups, and an oven....

*sigh*

silly me....

Seriously though... OP, thanks for expressing your opinion.  Was there a question, though?
