I'd say that many of the photo essays on Serious Bondage qualify as heavy bondage for me.

yea, you notice how many of those women are in ballet slippers? we own a pair, and, srrsly, just being in them pretty much qualifies as 'heavy bondage'

Interesting thread

I think for me, the difference between light and heavy bondage is the degree of physical stress or strain the tie puts the recipent under , either immediate or over a period of time. Therefore for me, things like mumification don't come under the heavy bondage label, yes they are very restrictive, but are very passive types of restraint.

Heavy bondage for me requires the recipent to be constantly searching for a way or means to relieve the physical discomfort they are feeling in the tie

See, i personally would refer to that as "strenuous bondage". Subsets of which would then be "predicament bondage" and "painbondage".

So if that's heavy bondage, how would you refer to highly immobilizing bondage aside from mummification? Say, a leather straitjacket, secured flat against the wall, legs solidly anchored wide apart, two layers of hoods with an inflatable gag, posture collar, etc...

Side note, while i'm rambling- while i really like the sound of "strict bondage", it doesn't imply anything in particular for me. It's kind of falls under "i don't know what it is, but yes, please!"

(hm... did somebody say "bondage"?)

Mummification is way cool and can be very relaxing - of course, covering the head can ramp it up a notch. We had a mummification social a couple of months ago and the mummies were in seventh heaven.

Haha, hoods to me are "heavy bondage" especially if they are the bag type of things.. I have to concentrate on realizing that I CAN breathe

i have been using this phrase a lot and lately have realised  S/some P/pl probably don't know what i mean when i say it.  i'm talking about hogtying, arm binders, straight jackets and other restraints that put a body in a strained position, as opposed to, for example, being cuffed to a bed post where you lie in a more or less natural position.

Is that what M/most P/pl think is meant by "heavy bondage"?  Or is this something i should explain whenever i would use the phrase?

Thanks for Y/yr thoughts.

honestly I wouldn't think of a straight jacket as something puting you in a strained position... i've only been in one a few times(and only for fun not play) but I found it to be rather comfortable(other then not being able to itch my nose)

Hog Tying is the same the same.

when I think of Bondage I don't automatically think of Uncomfortable....I simply think of restraints. "extreme bondage" would just be MORE restraints. full arm binders a full prison wrist waist and ankle shakle set. a full body bag with belts going up and down it.
but in the end they are all fairly comfortable, just limiting.

when someone says "Predicament" bondage I think of being uncomfortable. but that is slightly Different as well. because it denotes at least 2 different points that are uncomfortable and you have to balance between the two, paining one more while relieving the other.
