Hey ya'll....how's things? Glad to see some of the regulars coming back to here!

Angel, I hope your ear gets better...next to a toothache, an earache really sux! I will admit, I've never heard of the onion thing......can't say as I'd be willing to try it......onion breath is bad enuf, but onion EAR? Did you give ibuprofen a try anyway?

Got some news that I'm hoping will help me out job wise. Florida has what they call the Sunshine Law......anything sent to the state in any office via e-mail is subject to public scrutiny.....so I requested the e-mails sent between my supervisors at the Highway Patrol, in the event/hopes of finding out why they dumped me. I'm not going to use them to get my job back....why go where you aren't wanted?.....but it will make defending myself to other agencies I apply to alot easier. This crap of not having to tell me why is for the fricking birds.....I do have a right to know! Right now, I can't tell them why I was let go, and I know it makes them wonder, even tho I have supporting documentation that I met their damn standards. So, I'm hoping for answers.

You'd think, but for some reason, police agencies always say that since you're on probation, and can be let go without cause, they don't have to tell you! Which I have always thought is BS. But here in FL, I can at least (hopefully) use those e-mails to find out something! Get some closure....there are days when I'm really pissed off about it and it's all I can do to keep from picking up the phone and demanding to know why. I've never not made it through probation, and what's weirder is that we all signed off on the final eval that would have made me a permanent employee on October 1st, and I can't think of anything that changed in the 17 days that transpired between then and the day I got fired. Getting a pissy "It's just not working out" from some kid Lieutenant isn't floating my boat.

At least at a governmental agency you do have the "Sunshine" law. As a private employer, as long as I am willing to have the unemployment tapped, in Fla. like most states you can be fired becuase I want to fire you.

I have yet to ever just fire someone for the sake of doing it, but, I can!

Not fair, not right, not even conceivable that I would, but the law says I can, if I so choose.

When I was pregnant with my girl, I started a new job in community nursing. They knew from the get-go that I was pregnant. As time went on I really enjoyed my job, got along with the staff and clients, no complaints. Then on the last of the 3-month probation, I got called in and told "it wasn't working out" and lost my job. I couldn't prove it, but I knew they fired me because of my pregnancy. Here in Alberta if you are past your probation you get a full year of maternity leave and they have to keep your job open if you want to return. By firing me, they avoided all that crap. Plus they screwed up my EI as I didn't have enough hours in for a full mat leave - I only got 8 months, and that started 2 months before I had the baby. Sometimes employers just screw you because they can.

hi there everyone...my nightmare of packing is almost over...we got most of my stuff into the car...and survived my dads permanent attitude so far...he would be the main OP reg. fat threads, if he knew about here and could talk english

...anyhow tomorrow its time to go back home...gosh I just hope that it will go well with getting my freaking cats on time as well as that there is no fuss in regards to their pet passports...overall I am knacked 24/7 and my parents don't get it that I am burned out from my rather busy years until I was a lot at home now...but well...hey ho...no news to me, so all is fine...and I learned over here to let rubbish get into the ear and straight out again...not woth to bother about it at moments when that behaviour turns up again

Thanks guys, I try not to let it bother me, and I've moved on, but I think not having an explanation has already cost me one job, and may have cost me another, even with the eval I provided. I doubt I'd even be able to get a reference from my immediate supervisor because he's got no balls or backbone, so he's not going to cooperate. I'm specifically looking for the e-mail in which the LT told my supervisor and trainer that I was not to be graded any higher that a 3 (meets expectations). I had been getting 4's and 5's (high meets), and suddenly they stopped. She told them that no trainee was good enough for 4/5's. Yeah, but this trainee has 20 years experience, and has faced every dispatchers nightmare, and pretty much all of man's inhumanity to each other. A fatal accident here gets everyone's pressure up, me, I'd have everything done in 5-10 minutes....all notifications, all messages and info sent to the appropriate troopers an hour before they even asked for it......and be back to stitching beore anyone else could blink. And I knew more about the state and federal databases and info available than even the trainers did. Which I'm sure stuck in their craw. Just because I took the extra steps to learn more than what was needed to get by in doing the job.......plus, I've trained at least a dozen people in all aspects of the job myself. {sigh}Their loss......

But what really sucked is since I wasn't there a year, all the vacation and holiday time I'd banked, almost a month's worth, I didn't get paid for. Now THAT sucked!!!!!!

Yanno, I'll bet that I'm probably the only person who thinks getting a letter drom the IRS is good news....but when I went looking thru my tax stuff, I found the 1099 from my retirment I took in 2009. While I figured in the total I got, plus the 10% penalty, I didn't have the 1099 when I filed my taxes, I used stubs and records. I needed the cash......

Anyway, I discovered that there was an extra 1600 in taxes paid on the retirement that I didn't claim on the 1040 OR the AZ state return.....so I sent the amended state return in, and I'm due another $453 from AZ, and probably a couple of hundred from the feds. The feds are trying to tell me I owe THEM another 3 grand...however, they are the ones getting bit in the ass! WOOTLES! According to the instructions from the AZ form, I'll get interest too! Of course, it'll probably take them 2 months to get it to me......and the feds even more......but it'll be found money when it gets here!

If I hadn't gotten the letter, I would have never known......for once, YEA IRS!

CALLING ALL COMPUTER GEEKS!!!!! I got the info from the FHP today, and there's all sorts of shit on it about me and my dismissal. Unfortunately, it's all msg. files, and I can't open them! I tried going on the net to find information, but I can't understand what the heck I"m reading? Can someone give me some help in ENGLISH? Better yet, someplace to find a free download to read it?

I know there are people here who are faaaaar more literate than I am. I'd appreciate the help, either here or in my mailbox!

Celeste, I swear, we're connected somehow.....that is the same porgram I finally ended up finding to use. (SKEEEEERY!)

I got my answers...the reasons they let me go were all BS and personal. I found one e-mail where the one supervisor that I'd trained under said that he was totally aware the I was "UNFAIRLY" dismissed. His actual words!

They couldn't find any reasons to dismiss me, so apparently, they pegged EVERY little error I made, (very few!) and used other piddly things to do it. I'm talking about getting told I was wrong for answering another consoles telephone and actually handling the phone call instead of transferring it to the dispatcher on the called console. Or if I inadvertantly used the wrong street or road on a call, they pegged me for that, even though things got corrected immediately. There are hundreds of duplicate road in the 9 counties we covered, and everyone made the mistake And God help me if I actually entered someone else's call.....FHP was the first and only place that I ever got negative feedback for doing my job!

So all in all, I'm feeling pretty good about knowing that I was right about the reasons they let me go. Bunch of freaking jerks!
