Status: offline 		On the garden front, I now have FOUR tomatoes (green right now) and a bean pod! We had some lettuce, but after harvesting some, the plant died. The herbs are doing well and I am going to need to start trimming and drying or freezing.

I cannot believe that my garden plants have lived this long!

Status: offline 		No, Celeste, that was just a statement made by the first supervisor I was training under.  Reading thru everything, the things they said that I was incapable of diong all came from the first 6 weeks or so after I started.....we cover 18 counties, the southern ones are rural, so address are really out there.  Plus, about 1/3 of them weren't even in the CAD system, so you'd have to fool around with it til you found something....even if it was 20 miles off.   Considering I'd never lived here before, of course I wasn't going to be familiar with any areas.  I had a bad patch where the trainer and supervisor were doing what seemed like their damndest to piss me off and undermine my confidence, so I simply concentrated on doing my job to the effect of "drawing in" from my co-workers.  So, he pegged me with "personality shifts", and actually had the balls to tell me to call EAP for help.....IN MY EVAL'S!!!!  I told him that it wasn't anything related to work, and that everyone can have a bad day or two.

I would just like to know why there was a sudden panic/shift to shitcan me in the 17 days between signing the final eval and getting fired.  I thought it was from the LT, but apparently, it came from that spineless bastard of a supervisor.  The same one who gave me a console of my own, who called me in for OT, and assured me that the probationary period was not going to be a problem.  I can't however, locate anything in writing as to why it actually happened.

And apprently, it's written into FL law that should you get dismissed prior to a probationary period ending, that you have absolutely NO GROUNDS to pursue the matter legally.  And I certainly wouldn't go back to the place that didn't want me the first time.  I am however, going to change my supervisor info on any more apps I put out there...I'll use the one who asid I aws unfailry dismissed......now that I know the LT wasn't the instigator.  No telling what the other guy will say.....I don't trust the rat bastard as far as I can throw him.

That reminds me when some folks tried to convince my practice supervisor to let me fail my final placement...I had a brilliant reference from her during half term and that I am clearly on my way to a pass, but as the other half of the team was understaffed we didnt get enough work from them soon later and so I had to help there, too...

Two folks I had trusted were uncovered as playing very false games and she had claimed that those 2 were not confident giving me a feedback for my portfolio...so stating that if I dont get their feedback I would not be able to pass...following which my tutor clarified that I "dont need" colleague feedback in my portfolio...it is recommended to have it...but it is not mandatory (apart from that I then simply got the feedback from two others, they weren't the only ones in the team *snort*. )

Also my tutor made clear to them  that just because they might recommend me a fail that this does not mean that I will fail as then a practice panel will have an independent look into the work I did and can overrule their decision and let me pass if they consider the fail to be unfair...and there I experienced how lucky I was (IMO in that situation) about the amount of really  good work I did, so I felt happy to get another opinon, if necessary, based on my work evidence I had...gosh they did not like that fact...all of a sudden their almightyness was smashed...

this tutor was just priceless and I am grateful that I had her as IMO the others aren't as good as she was...she was just really really good... and if I would have an opportunity I would still continue to attend her critical thinking classes as they were just plain good (and is my only file I kept from my uni lectures).

I hope you find an option to appeal against it soul

Here no news. My cats settled in fine and of course can't understand why they can't share my bed anymore (dads rule in his house not my choice ), summer rebelled a lot last night to try to get inside...so hopefully I get my next job here soon to move out again with my cats.

At least here the economy is good, so I know it won't take that long. Just yesterday someone advertised again where I applied for a post on friday and mum said they advertised a few times in recent months...so thank god, the experts on a radio programme were right about 5 years ago, that people in my field will be in high demand a few years down the line

Status: offline 		My dad's g/f brought me my first again plant for my apartment on Thursday when they came over.  It's the 1st time in over 5 yrs that I've got enough sunlight to have plants.  Have to go to Wal-Mart today to buy it a sister, poor lil thing is gonna awful lonesome by itself.  I figure they can enourage each other.  Claire was nice enough to start a cutting from one of her plants last month when I told her how much I liked her spider plant.  I L-O-V-E that woman.  She always thinks of me.

Status: offline 		Yeah, Poohbear, I'm right there with ya....if no one hears from me again, that means the lightning got me at the wedding this coming Saturday!  I'm going to be a mother in law........and the first jokester is a dead one!    I did tell them that I'm in no hurry to be a grandma.......they've already been beaten out for the first great grandkid, so it's not like they are setting a record.  Although, my mom was a grandma for 6 years already at this point in time.....she was 44, I was 25......nope, no hurry here!

Status: offline 		Soul, those are the times I'm glad I was never a mom.  My niece is 16 but I know she's smarter than that and my sister sure as hell made sure she knows what there is to know.  Although methods do fail, and the unexpected can happen, I'm sure she's more than careful.  She's an awful smart cookie for her age and I love her to pieces but I also don't want her going through that at such a young age.

Although, when I entered high school in grade 9, had a friend who'd had her daughter between the grade 8 and 9 summer.  She was 13 when she became pregnant, he was 17 and took no responsibility, the fact that his mommy said nope, he couldn't be the dad didn't help.  She ended up keeping the baby and raising her, but it was tough on that poor little girl who had a mom with no experience and no social or familial network to help her.   Jenny's 35 now, it just boggles the mind.

Status: offline 		Well, my 19 year old neice got pregnant, I just found out that my nephew's girlfriend is pregnant. My new daughter is only 21, and while my son is 26, he still has things that he has plans for.  Kids don't appear to be on the near horizon.  They both know they need to be a bit more settled before they do the kid thing. 

As awful as it sounds, I really wish that my sister and I could have gotten to my neice.  Her mother, my other sister, wouldn't let anyone talk to her alone until she was in her second trimester.  Yes, my sister and I would have talked my neice into having an abortion.  She's no where near mature enough for a child, she's still going out and partying with all her friends and living the life of a 20 year old single person.  The only reason her mother talked her into keeping the baby was that SHE wanted one, and my bro-in-law had a vasectomy years ago to prevent that.  I love my neice to death, and really wish she hadn't screwed up her life.  She was in school to be a paralegal, that's gone by the wayside, Lord only knows what the father is doing.  He didn't abandon my neice, but there's something going on there w/my sister and him.....not sexual, but my other sis and I have our suspicions.  And my neice was on b/c, so I know that she wasn't planning on having a kid.  Sometimes, shit happens......

Reading this again, it sounds like I'm giving my nephew a pass.....no, but he has a whole different set of problems to work thru.  I hope he's strong enough to handle the whole new change in his life, he's a recovering alcoholic, with a criminal record, and this time last year was in jail, soon to be living in a halfway house.  My sis says that the girlfriend is a sweetie, and a settling influence on my nephew, so hopefully, she can give him the strength that will help him deal with the trying times down the road.  They are living with my sister now, and they do have a family support system from my side of the family anyway.  Sis hadn't said much about what her family's reaction was.  Again, one never knows what changes in the road lie ahead, but they handle them the best they can.
