This has started out as a pretty crappy day - had my girl in emergency by 6:30 this morning. She was having difficulty breathing. Turns out she has croup. They gave her a dose of steroids to decrease the inflammation in her upper airway, but it is going to send her blood sugars skyrocketing for the next week. Goodie.

The health home service people came and took my cpap away the other day.  Today they brought an oxygen tank and a bipap machine.  This should help with my sleep since I am known for sleep apnea.

Now I get to debate with myself...to take the tank with me to Dallas and Austin or just wing it.

AHHHH!!!!!  Watermelon!!!!

I hope that she feels better soon. If that stuff is anything like they had me give Butterhead, she will be wired for sound. If you can find a way to bottle and sell the energy you will be a rich woman!

And now I am not the only one that did not diagnose croup at home. If there is no cough, how can you tell? What mommy checks the lungs with a stethoscope? I did not think to for a cold.

Seriously though, give her my best.



And . . . on other news. . . I am back from my trip to the North West. I saw the Bad Lands (which are pretty), Mt. Rushmore, Custer's Last Stand (Little Big Horn), Yellowstone, and The Grand Tetons. I can now tell the visual difference between buffalo and bison. I also have pictures of baby bison. Oh! And buffalo fur is very soft. I want a buffalo blankie.

Oh I knew it was croup - she has a very distinctive barking cough. What sent us to emergency was the fact that she was struggling to breathe. Even once she had calmed down and relaxed a bit, her air exchange was the piits. They took xrays - which the dr. showed to me. And it was very very obvious where her distress came from as the xrays showed perfectly the narrowed areas. She is much better now, her sugars have behaved.
