Status: offline 		Whattya mean, WAKE UP????  I haven't even been to sleep yet, and I've been up since 12:30 pm yesterday!  I was juuuuuuust about asleep when KB decided that he didn't want to be the only one up......so, here we are......tweets have been given out, and KB's sitting on he floor next to me pondering whatever it is he ponders after he wakes me up.  He is such a snot!!!!!

OK, so here's a question for everyone regarding the rant I posted yesterday about work.  The third girl that failed to show on Sunday came in today, on her day off.  Apparently, she called out sick on Monday.  Anyway, she was scheduled off on Tuesday, and when I saw her, I asked her about why she was here on her day off.  She said she'd put in for time off for Sunday, and it didn't get approved, so she had to make up the hours.  Our supervisor said she'd tried to back door him again by getting approval for the time off from the payroll clerk.....yeah, go figure......and she never mentioned a word to him about being off on Sunday!

So anyway, here's my point.....she put the request in on Friday by leaving it on the clerk's desk.  We don't work on Saturday, so no one saw the request.  She just figured that since she had the time on the books, that it was instantly approved.  Now, call me weird, but if it had been me, I would have called my supervisor on Saturday to see if the time had been approved.  She, however, didn't.  Again, our supervisor didn't even know about the time off request until he texted the payroll clerk to see if she knew anything about her being off.  And why time off requests don't go thru your supervisor is a new one to me...but they go thru the clerk because she just approves it without checking w/the supervisor.  All she asks is if you have the time available.  And she doesnt even tell the supv when she's granted them time off.  WTF?????

Needless to say, the girl now needs to tread veeerrrrrrry carefully.  If she is late, or is a no show, or calls off between now and September, she's out the door.  Somehow, I don't think that keeping her job is a huge priority for her.  I'll give her two weeks......

Status: offline 		i need a job, soul. i'm available weekends and evenings. and i can work public and school holidays. i'm used to $20+/hr, i assume that's the going rate at the very least, right?? i just need enough hours so i can pay gas and have a few dollars for food.....

I finally did post an application back home on monday and got an invitation for an interview today I am hopeful, though I am unusual nervous about that interview and the following work within practice there (Interview is at 1.30 and afterwards I am there within a group until 6pm) as it is an awful long time ago by now that I worked in that environment back home...just feels by now as if that was in a different life

So I am happy about that invitation but knowing that sometimes english words do slip out when I am back home it feels way more stressful now to actually attend an interview in my mothertongue

But I am impressed about what they are doing, they have 2 videoclips in there which gave quite a good first impression about that work environment and some of the folks there...also it would be close to austria and lovely countryside for my cats

Only downside of it will be an almost 1200km car journey for me that day

It is about 540 km away from my parents (I already booked one of their cars) then from there almost 200km to surprise visit my brother in that same county (who hasn't got a clue that I am nearby and that gives me a chance to still give my nephew his easter pressie) and then another 470km back home...

Thank goodness one of my parents car has GPS by now, that should enable me not to get lost which annoyingly had happened at one interview many years ago On that journey they also caught me crossing the red light but never fined me thanks to my brother Cause they had demanded the fine from my dad and wanted to give him (if I remember it correctly) one point in his traffic license but he told them that he didnt drive that car and send it back them Then they contacted my mum...and tried to get it onto her shoulders...following which she also told them...that it wasnt her By then we expected that they would try my brother or me, but then they had given up. I believe they gave up as they obviously haven't had a good picture, cause otherwise they would have seen that I am not my dad and when the person isn't to identfy you can win against their claim. I did remember that I was surprised that the person before me as well as myself got pictured as it was still green enough (and I was under pressure to find that damn place for that interview at that time) and the sun light wasn't in a good angle....so I am pretty sure that thanks to the sunlight they couldn't recognise much and therefore gave up on the attempt to get us

So they simply made the error to try claiming it from my parents instead of just asking theim WHO drove the car

Anyhow...I am just glad now that I won't have any navigation issues for reasonably sure

Status: offline 		I'm awake again.  This time we had 2 blackouts.  The electricity just came about 5 minutes ago.

This time, the county is coming out, picking up the branches from the storm.

I am leaving for Austin tomorrow.  Hopefully no storms this time...

Status: offline 		She is doing good.  Getting out of school has done wonders.  She is no longer getting bullied, she is actually cleaning her room and she is doing school classes on sites.  she has her diploma from a website in Houston that give out diplomas, not a GED.  I am bringing her Latin courses since she does love it.  When she gets her diploma (after paying it off) she is thinking of working part-time while going to college where I used to go to school at.

Status: offline 		Well, here in the states, rarely do we get paid what we're worth.  I haven't looked around much, but I don't think the going rate for the equivalent position here is even close to that.  Heck, even with the amount of experience I have in my chosen career, the average pay here is about $12-$13 an hour.  Every job I've ever had, I've had to start at the bottom of the pay scale.  Granted, I don't do the work for the money, but it'd be nice to get paaid decent for once. I do like to eat, after all!

Status: offline 		wow. i looked at home support carer jobs for my brother in the south over there. they were making about $7. a top level, experienced one over here can make $25 plus $.70/k for car costs.

an equiv job to my last one in south aus, is about $60-70+ grand up here

i may pay more taxes, but i sure get better money and mostly free health services thrown in!
