Hi folks, merlin left the nest now to his new home...despite that I originally wanted to keep him... well, I would have kept him definitely if I would have the space!!! However, originally Urmel was about to leave the nest to a uni friends sister...very originally that uni friend was meant to have one of my boys but did not get it as I had decided at that time to keep them anyway...now that uni friend couldn't take him once I changed my mind (as I knew anyway) as she got a persian cat by then from somewhere else. However, as her nieces are very fond her new lil cat she asked her sister and so now her sister came to here to get a cat. So the plan was that Urmel is leaving...but Urmel was making sure to stay far away, hiding in his tunnel...whereas Merlin decided "new people, let me explore them". He climbed up on that sisters leg, snuggled on her lap and felt asleep... I think you can't see it any better that he felt very comfortable indeed on her lap. Therefore I ignored my own original desire to keep him as I think he would have been marvellous on a cat show for his markings (I am not fond of such shows as such, however I would have given it a go in his case due to continuing a little bit longer on breeding birmans and due to his markings being as great as they look to me) and followed his instinct to get to know her. Therefore now Merlin is gone to his new home, will have a dog and 2 lil kids to play with and they know that birmans can become depressed if they are without other cats, so if she feels he isn't happy she would get him company...but maybe he will be one of the few ones in that breed who is fine on his own with the company of the dog and kids. Now only time will tell if Urmel will stay with his mom or not...it is a bit sad, but if I can't give them away then is no point to continue a little bit...then it would be time to stop for good right now. And it means if I change my mind again with her next litter I would just be able to keep all of them for me and for their mommy At least I know he will have a good home as I know that at least his aunty (my unimate) is a cat freak as I am and so I don't doubt it when she recommends her sister And normally I would have kept him until he is 13 weeks old, which is the breeder requirement here, but with moving right now it would mean to relocate him to the new place only then to move him again around, which isn't great either. He is 8.5 weeks old now, litter trained and eating by himself...so like many other cats in that age he is able to move on...I hope he will enjoy his new place...
