I don't put them IN the same category.  I put them OUT of the same category--they're both equally clueless about working class and middle class situations and values.

Well put.

The Democrats want to pull up stakes in Iraq and to hell with strategy....then go back in with more troops and more casualties to clean up the mess the hard way. McCain's grasp is keep a stable military presence in a stabilized Iraq, vis-a-vis Germany and South Korea--i.e., he is willing to be realistic about things today, without attempting the homicidal foolishness of turning back the clock to before the invasion of Iraq.

Anyone who would liken IRAQ to either Germany or Korea doesn't have a "grasp." The USA has really weakened itself by sending our military into two (2) sinkholes. Its just not feasible for the US to prosecute these two wars (or occupations) while our economy teeters on recession and oil prices skyrocket.

This whole debacle is a national disgrace. You are foolish to think it can end well.

Wouldn't it be an interesting thing, though...a Repub in the white house who isn't Bush, with a Democratic Congress and Senate??? i think McCain more than any of the GOP has the ability to work with Dems.  If the OLD McCain comes back after all the campaigning crap, that is.  In a way, part of the reason the Bush agenda was pushed, was a lack of checks and balances...the GOP had the whole enchilada in their grasp.  That wouldn't be the case, now.

That would probably be the best result we could hope for.  I think that since we can only have two parties (they're pretty good at making sure we don't have any more), it's in our best interest to keep things mixed.  With the executive in one party and the legislature in the other, there are more checks and balances, particularly if the legislature has the votes to override a veto when it needs to.  It's tough or impossible for either side to push partisan priorities through - that's definitely a good thing.  They're pretty much forced to engage in dialog on the big issues and even :::gasp::: compromise.    It wouldn't be perfect, but more of us would have some kind of voice and they wouldn't do as much stupid shit.

I can't vote for McCain, though.  Or any of the R's that will be on my ballot this Nov.  Other than McCain, they're all going to be incumbents who have ticked me off.

i sometimes fear that people that are overly loyal to a party start to think of issues as secondary.  There's a "we're right, we should win!" mentality that is found on either side.  Some people are foaming at the mouth like religious fanatics over which party is in power...there is vicious name calling and shit flung in both directions. Which just proves some people fall for propaganda.  If people would stop arguing over  parties like they're NFL teams, and start paying attention to politicians individually and what they say, and more importantly how they vote and stand on pertinent issues, maybe Rumsfeld, Ashcroft, and those of thier ilk would be exposed as unacceptable choices from the beginning, and save the people of this country a world of sorrows...

There have been studies done recently about people's emotional reactions to political stuff.  Turns out that our bodies give us chemical rewards when we get all righteous for "our side" and against "their side".  I imagine it's pretty similar to the kind of thing that avid sports fans feel.

I am honestly just really curious about this one.. Every one blames Bush for everything, but he is not the one at fault.. yes he has made mistakes, but come on everyone.. He is not the only one that makes decisions.. I guess I also have a diffrent opinion on the war in Iraq.. All we see on the news is the bad stuff.. I mean come on.. We are doing good over there.. The news jsut show the bad stuff.. Also to be honest.. I think this country is so sick of everything.. We will vote for anyone.. I mean I think the burger king(king) would do a better job at being president then obama or hilary, cause honestly all it is is racial crap that I hear anymore.. I am a very proud white person who is from west virginia and when the primaries went through here.. Everyone one now thinks of us as rednecks who are racist.. I would not vote for obama if he was white or black.. Look beyond everything and you will see the real obama.. I mean his preacher talked about this country and so does his wife.. Which also says she does not like white people.. Why in the world would anyone vote for him.. He is a joke and honestly I think hiliary is to.. I am just sick to my stomach to know what this country has come to.. I just really dont even want to vote this year...

You almost made sense with this bit...

And then you had to mess it up by saying....

Oh well, so much for proving the stereotype about WV wrong.
