I use Google Chrome as the default browser on my Windows XP Pro emulated PC (using Virtual PC for Mac 6 on an iBook G4). While Windows XP Pro running on that emulated platform is slow to begin with, using Google Chrome does not make web browsing any slower. It also hasn't crashed out Windows completely (so their threaded processing for applets appears to actually work). Trying to use either the latest MSIE, Firefox, or Safari on that emulation makes web browsing absolutely slower than anything I can stand and, when those browsers crash they usually also force my emulation into the dreaded Blue Screen of Death. I'm guessing that Google Chrome is, at this point, spared all of the feature bloat that is common with the other browsers. If it runs acceptably on my emulated platform, I can only imagine that it must run faster than the others on native hardware. Now, from a privacy standpoint, I hope that Google doesn't try to datamine anything that you dig up from the web using their browser, like the apparently do in order to serve up relevant ads while using many of their web-based services (like Gmail).
