I've begun to think that I'm not submissive as much as I like the idea of being "forced" to submit.  Obviously (or not so obviously) this is only a bedroom type of thing, and doesn't lend itself much to 24/7.  I could be mistaken there, though.  I've just never really read anything like this.
Anyone else care to clue me in?  Do other people actually think like this?

That is a very valid feeling. I've know women who just wanted to please and I've known women who pushed a man till he "took" them. It’s the feelings that you have inside you, that only you can understand. My last wife (I've only had 2) was that way. She is a very take charge lady, but she wants to be "taken". When she gets bitchy, she needs a good spanking and rape. If you ask her, she will never admit that. Once it’s done, she coos like a dove for days. Because of her upbringing, she will never discuss or acknowledge her needs. But, for her, they are valid as your feelings are for you.

You have to know what is inside you. Don't let anyone tell you that you are really craving "whatever". You know, inside your heart and mind what it is you need to be happy in life. Once you know, then and only then, can you find the partner who can satisfy those needs.

Ditto. I think the main cause of my early-20s angst was from dominants trying to convince me that my enjoyment of S/m in the bedroom was indicative of me being submissive... They never TOLD me that I could enjoy being "taken" without being totally submissive. They tried to tell me that my enjoyment of those activities meant that I was really a subby inside, and that I was "fighting my true nature" by trying to be in control of my life. This encouraged me to try to fufill a role that never really suited me. I was confused all the time, hurt, angry (at me, at them, at everyone), etc.

I now know that enjoying being raped and beaten in no way signifies that I want to be willingly submissive to a man 24/7, and my head is a WHOLE lot clearer.

I'll also add that since you were raised so strictly, you might enjoy the security it brings, but it still conjures feelings of a dynamic FORCED upon you.  In time you might learn to enjoy what you like and leave behind what you don't.

It doesn't much matter- you are who you are and that's great and you should go get exactly what works for you.
