1)With knowledge there is power..

2)Stay away from cyber collars until you meet R/L..(of course if you follow #1, then #2 is unnecessary)..:0)..Tempting

Was thinking as i browsed the boards this evening, that in the time i've been a member of cm i've recieved and seen some really great, and thoughtful advice.
Subjects, themes, topics, advice, thoughts, opinions here are always really varied but always in my opinion given with the best of intent.
So i thought maybe, maybe not [:D]  it would be nice to get a collective of general advice for newbies, not so newbies and definately not newbies [;)].
Sooooooo if you could give just one piece of advice to someone what would it be?

I actually have no thoughtful advice.

I had some thoughtful advice...but then I thought about it....and then I thought again....(and then I couldn't remember the original question).

So....what was the question again?

Like swimmming in strange water.  Make friends with the locals & seek their advice.  Stay close to the shore until you are used to the water.  Holler if you're in too deep.

OK, that was more than one but I was having fun with the analogy.

Know thyself.

rollinonward05 -> RE: Just one thing (10/27/2007 2:12:40 AM)

Be patient when looking.  Learn patience within the relationship. You will find you need it... in abundance :)

Twicehappy2x -> RE: Just one thing (10/27/2007 4:34:16 AM)

To thine own self be true.

Or to put it plainly;

If folks do not like you for who you are, fuck 'em!

MsPleasure -> RE: Just one thing (10/27/2007 7:16:22 AM)

Take your time.  Do your own research on the lifestyle and decide what you want to try.  Chat with people into what you like.  Watch some of the how to videos on Collarme.  Take their number and block yours when you call, for more detailed conversations.  Listen carefully and go with your gut if you decide to meet. Meet only in a public place.  If you are'nt feeling the person say that and move on.

If you meet and the chemistry is there proceed with caution.  Lay down ground rules etc.  Be safe and have fun.

When in doubt, have a nap.

(This is my second post about napping in less than five minutes ... ~bleary eyes~)

batshalom -> RE: Just one thing (10/27/2007 10:19:54 AM)

By the way, chelle, that is the monster mack daddy of tag lines you got there. I admire it when your head's turned but I was feeling kind of guilty for being such a tag perv.

Be yourself

if you can not adequatly define who YOU are, then stay out of a relationship until you can.

laurell3 -> RE: Just one thing (10/27/2007 10:22:43 AM)

Be who you are and never take anything anyone says to you "in the lifestyle" seriously without really questioning if their opinion really fits for you.

mya75 -> RE: Just one thing (10/27/2007 10:23:21 AM)

Always expect the unexpected

breatheasone -> RE: Just one thing (10/27/2007 10:25:27 AM)

Trust what you see....not what you think you know....LOOK at whats really in front of you. Make your decisions based on the facts at hand, not what you hope will happen later. Most importantly....treat it as you would any other beginning relationship...be friends 1st.

MasterFireMaam -> RE: Just one thing (10/27/2007 7:38:20 PM)

Be true to yourself. But, then, I'd give that advice to ANYONE.
