Was thinking as i browsed the boards this evening, that in the time i've been a member of cm i've recieved and seen some really great, and thoughtful advice.
Subjects, themes, topics, advice, thoughts, opinions here are always really varied but always in my opinion given with the best of intent.
So i thought maybe, maybe not   it would be nice to get a collective of general advice for newbies, not so newbies and definately not newbies .
Sooooooo if you could give just one piece of advice to someone what would it be?

Be yourself and just because someone says what you are doing is wrong it doesn't make it so; don’t be so sure they know any better than you.

Play safe, and take care of yourself. There isn't anyone who is as invested in your safety as you are.

Several people on here have it in their signatures, and it's a piece of advice I've given to many of my friends in the last few years...

Don't make anyone a priority who makes you an option.

Ask questions. Tons of Questions. Reword questions so they seems different to see if you get a different response.

Don't let anyone push you into something you aren't ready for. If they really care about you, they'll wait until you can handle it.

And I believe I learned this little gem from someone here on CM:

Don't be discouraged. You gotta kiss a lot of frogs...... to discover what it is you really want and need.

There are as many needy doms as there are subs. The question comes into play whether his needs meet yours. If they don't are you willing to compromise your own in order to meet his? If the answer is yes, then you have to look inside yourself to figure out why you would sacrifice your needs for someone else. If the answer is no, are you strong enough to acknowledge your needs will not be met and walk away. At some point in every D/s relationship, these questions come into play.

Blessings and Be well,

My advice is:  To build a relationship based on D/s is like building a house on sand. Know who YOU are first.  Be a complete person on your own, THEN you will have something to offer another.

Know who you are first, your likes and dislikes, your wants and needs and then be able and willing to communicate them in a way that people understand.

My advice is dont take anything too seriously early on. Get to know someone over a period of weeks and months if need be.
