has anyone done this? does anyone think it would fall under the superstition of tattooing a lover's name on yourself? i was reading a thread about collars, collars being symbols (like tattoos me thinks) and camoflaging them into 24/7 inside/out side wear... and i got to wondering if this idea appeals to any body out there?              phoenix

i would do it if my Sir wanted me to, but i personally wouldn't like it. But it wouldn't exactly be inconspicuous in my life, and would definitely cause problems with my work.

But i do see the appeal, and for someone who wouldn't have issues with it, it could be a good thing. Of course, it couldn't be a collar easily received. It's a mark for a lifetime, so i would hope that the intention would be for the relationship to last for a lifetime.

I've daydreamed about doing that. But.. I don't have any tats, my ears aren't even pierced so the likelyhood of getting my neck tattooed is pretty darn remote. As fantasy it's fun to think about though.

I have seen collar tattoos........(it better be forever, huh?)

The only unique thing I have seen in the world is the insides of a duck.

I have yet to see a neck tattoo that looks good so I'm not very optimistic about that idea. But the theoretical/mental aspect of it is very good.

I can see the mental aspect of it and I love tattoos, have 2 myself so far and plans for more, but such a tattoo wouldn't work for me and isn't something I'd go for on myself. I'll admit there is a grain of the superstition along the lines of the lover's or spouse's name tattooed on you in my decision as well, though that's not the main or even a very big reason why I wouldn't.

I do see it falling under the superstition the relationship is doomed (aren’t I romantic lol). Then I’d worry about the design looking good and then with family and work. Then there is my whole needle issue which means I couldn’t even watch it get done.  So in all reality not going to happen in my relationships.

did you mean litterally tattooing a collar around your neck?  cause i have what i identified as my collar from my first Master tattooed on my chest...right above my heart...it is the kanji for servant....when he released me...there was an "unlocking" of the collar...and it is now just a symbol of the nature of my heart...

I know...but I was 16 when I got the first tat...and because of the way it was done...there just was absolutly no covering it up for the amount of money I made at the time.....so I decided to be funny and do the rednecky cross out thingy...

This is just me, and my personal thoughts on the matter, but I've always thought that the bestowing of a collar and the honor of wearing one was enhanced by the possibility that it could be removed and taken back by ones owner.  I don't mean as a symobl of blackmail nor something that would be done lightly, but a definite reality of something that was a possibility.

In one sense, I could see how one could take comfort - feeling as if there was this unremoval symbol of their commitment to each other.  On the other hand, there is just something about a tangible, tactile object that makes the whole thing less idealistic and more REAL in my mind.  Then again, I can see how exciting it might be to watch someone bleed and be permanently marked with the symbol of their slavery.

(sighs) I only have two hands, and I keep bouncing from one thought to the other with no real clarity so I'm just going to say wow, cool idea, not for me or mine (far as I can ever forsee) but still very cool.

I don't think I would get a tattoo on my neck, the skin is pretty thin there, and ehhhhhhhhh!  The romantic in me loves the idea of a tattoo to symbolize sub/slave's bond with their dominant.  If I became collared, I would be willing.  Though it would have to be a symbol that means something to us, but others wouldn't know what it is, unless we tell them. And it would have to be in a spot that is easily hidden.  (something small so if I do need to get it removed, I wouldn't have to save up as much.)And when I get a sub of my own, we certainly will explore that option.

But while I am not really superstitious, somewhere in the back of my own will worry about it.
