"Life" is what happens when we are making plans,  I believe it unfolds just as it's supposed to.

As long as you have a dream about something, and keep learning and moving forward in all areas that are meaningful to you, there is no way you are settling. As long as you make a commitment for growth, it is impossible to settle. You may settle for a bit,  but that may just be a sign you need to reavaluate your next move.

What does worry me though is what if i can never have all the things i want? What if i can't balance them out? What if i have to settle? Will i always feel happy having all i can for now?

When the thing that you want can be attained and yet, you refuse to make the effort to attain it - that's when you've settled.

And, it's wonderful to have fantasies, ideals, and ambitions....Just don't spend all of your time comparing what you currently have - against the things that you don't.  Because the sad truth is, what you have now won't always be here for you to appreciate later.

My point is, appreciate the current things and people around you now, continue striving towards the things that you want to attain in your future, and everyday will be seen as full - not half empty.

Okay, now that I am finished ogling Aileen's new photo and actually do have some time for intelligent (yes I know, that is a matter of opinion) thought and typing I am going to answer as I should.

One thing I have discovered is that a good portion of my life has been about compromise, doing what is best for everyone else in my life. I feel that when I made certain commitments like having children, I created a need to compromise alot of what I WANTED for doing what was in their best interests. Alot of the time I have been able to do both, yet there have also been times when I could say I got the short end of the stick. Yeah, looking back......sometimes it SUCKED. But, such is life.

This is the way I choose to look at it. At some level I honestly believe we choose our life paths based upon lessons we need to learn. So, when I take this approach it gives me a reason to appreciate the less than thrilling aspects of those choices.

I just look at the big picture and all the wonderful things and people I do have in my life, not what is missing. Not what I wish I had or things I wish I had done differently. That is a no win path to take. I prefer to take it a day at a time, try to make the best choices for everyone involved as they come up and look forward with anticipation at what wonderful things might be down the road.
