Not really. It can indicate ignorance and being sheltered. Ignoprance as in not aware, not willful ignorance.Common sense can also be acquired. Stupid you are stuck with.

How often do you see common sense being acquired?

Well, maybe we need to define it. I'm thinking of a friend of mine who went from being kind of emotionally naive to being someone who's still open and trusting but has developed more "bullshit meter" and more scrutiny in relationshps. Other people start with that as a baseline and haven't been burned as much.

I get your point.  I'm not sure I'd describe that as "common sense," but I agree that one's "bullshit meter" can be improved through experience.

I think you need common sense to function in a society but intelligence to excel. I’m pretty sure it is the same way in this lifestyle. But we should all take into account the change in judgment when passions are high.

Dear KnightofMists, Ladies and Gentlemen;

To me, the saying of "No common sense" also must to some degree equal to common knowledge.  To attempt to have 'common knowledge' in an uncommon area, such as a novice in BDSM is not due to the lack of common sense--it is the unequal measure of common knowledge to use in making their decisions/choices, leaving them in the area of judgemental standards of others--lacking.

Just some thoughts.

Respectfully submitted for consideration,
Lady Hugs

Lack of common sense simply makes navigating through life and its rocky shoals a lot more difficult.But lacking common sense does not necessarily mean one is stupid!..There are many very intellgient even shall I say genius types that have utterly no common sense, their main problem may just be that they tend to over analyze simplistic events,and the solutions thereof..In other words they tend to march to their own drummer....Tempting

There is book sense and street sense...and hopefully people have some of each, although that may not result in common sense. I have been sometimes reminded that "Not everyone thinks like you do."  LOL, and I respond, "Why not, it makes perfect sense to me!" What is obvious to one, does not necessarily mean it will be obvious to another. It's really frustrating, though, isn't it?

"Common sense" is the revenge of mediocrity.  Yes, brilliant people often have no "common sense."  That's because they're brilliant.  Any dumass can have "common sense."  Was it "common sense" to invent the lightbulb?  I think not.

Your point being?.
