Sorry, but this 'survey' looks like total horseshit to me. I do not knowone woman who would lie about her pregnancy and the women I know are real. They are grownups, have learned how to be honest about the little things. RE: do I look fat in this? Answer: it doesn't do your butt justice!

There is diplomacy learned over time and experience.

Status: offline 		what? of course women lie about being pregnant, its a way to "trap" the men they think will otherwise slip away....its very low in my opinion but it has been known to happen.

Status: offline 		My first husband couldn't get me to agree to marry him and I made the mistake of saying "the only way I'd get married was if I got pregnant"  (I was young, naive and pretty ignorant) Well guess what several weeks later I got pregnant.  The day our son was born he walks into my recovery room, takes my son from my arms, gives me a dozen roses and says "aren't you glad I was putting holes in the condoms?" 
Oh, it gets better.
Six months later we're fighting like cats and dogs.  I threaten to take the baby and go to my moms.  He begs me to stay, offers counciling, the whole 9 yards.  Three weeks later - yup you guessed it  pregnant again!!!!!!  So I came home from the doctors, locked myself in the bathroom and started filling condoms with water.  EVERY ONE OF THEM LEAKED

Fool me once, shame on you.  Fool me twice shame on me. 
So I have 2 beautiful children from that marriage.  And a very swift divorce. 
Its not just the women, trust me!

It isn't limited to men or women.  One gender doesn't do it anymore or any worse than the other.  As for me personally, my ex lied about any and everything.  In fact he once came in drunk, threw up all over the livingroom floor and passed out.  When I found it and him the next morning, had actually had the nerve to claim that it was our seven-year-old daughter that had done it.  To which she replied, "It was you, Daddy. I saw you."  I told him he had until I got home from taking her to school to get it cleaned up. 

I've lied too.  Have you never called your boss to say you were sick when you weren't?

Everyone lies and they aren't white and they aren't small.

Status: offline 		What's depressing, to me, is that as I have been telling people for a long time: we have, as a society, only a passing familiarity with the truth for a whole lot of reasons.
 
For the most part, though, we have become a society of "professional victims" who are blameless for anything. It's always someone else's fault.
 
"I was economically disadvantaged."
 
"My mother didn't treat me right."
 
"I killed him because I was PMS-ing."
 
These aren't necessarily, in themselves, lies but, they're distortions of the truth which lead us donw that path.
 
I like what Level said. Deceit (of any kind) is a terrible thing. But, we engage in it without even realizing it, at times. How many of us try to "put our best foot forward", when going out on that first date instead of letting the other person know just exactly who and what we are? How many "submissives" are on their best behavior until AFTER the collar goes around their neck? How many ex spouses can we think of that "changed as soon as I said 'I do'"?
 
But, Mistress Irish also makes a good point and it puts me in mind of something I was told, years ago, when I was so brutally honest as to constantly offend people: "Honesty, without compassion, is brutality"
 
So, if we use a little compassion and diplomacy, when being honest, we really can strike a comfortable balance (as Mistress Irish also pointed out).
 
For me, I have a lot of trouble interacting with people because I won't tolerate lies of any kind. I've been down that road, before and I am always looking to give people the benefit of the doubt but, when it smacks me in the face, it's done.

Status: offline 		I suppose what always strike me when people are angry at others for telling lies is it always makes me wonder if the person is lying to themself.

I have known any number of people who think certain things are true or false despite the lack of evidence.

I don't think it's horseshit, but the represented sample of people aren't of the type with which I surround myself.

But I do find that people lie - a lot. A lot. A lot!

Not me and mine, but they're out there. It doesn't bother me one bit that people set themselves up for failure that way. That's the path they choose for themselves.

BTW, I was just being tedious calling women "bitches." Don't be so touchy. Find the humor before it slaps you in the face.
