ORIGINAL: Level Good morning Of course, he isn't the only one of the list, the list is quite long, from what I've heard. What gets me outraged, isn't the desire for nookie, it's the deceit. Now, if his wife knew, and is okay with it, I don't have a lot of problems with that. Nookie, okay. Lying, cheating, deceiving, not. zactly-i didnt care that bill got a bj.......i did care he lied under oath about it........ Mornin' sunshine I agree about the lies, deceit, etc. But once again....who in politics ISN'T being deceitful and lying and boasting about God's forgiveness when it suits them? We just hear about them and gloat when they get caught. It goes back around to the general population who expects it from our public officials. Somewhere, we picked up the idea that those in office must be free of sin, married with children, churchgoers, etc. As though anyone who dared to venture from that storybook life just wouldn't be competent to hold a public office. The theory is good, yes, from back in the days of Our Founding Fathers and how George Washington never told a lie, and so on. But it was easier to carry on that charade back then when you didn't have media lined up with shovels, picks, axes and millions of dollars in offers for the dirt that they can dig up. Unfortunately, claiming forgiveness and confessing their infidelity-whatevers is the lesser of the evils, since the alternative is cruficixion by the press and the public alike. Maybe if we'd make our decisions on their competency based on job performance alone instead of dragging their personal lives into it so deeply (yes, I know, their personal character does enter into it some). But I don't see how the fact that, say, they paid a hooker for sex affects their ability to juggle dollars to balance a budget. Should we let them do their jobs and quit worrying about their sex lives?
