I like the part where his wife when asked about what we should would do if she were Hillary Clinton, she said that she was more of the "Lorena Bobbit type."

It sucks when we have to eat our words....But God forgave him so all is ok....It supposedly happened before he ran for the Senate...Men love pussy. Clinton loved pussy. Probably still does. Do I derive some sort of pleasure that the guy is a conservative?...You bet....Does it mean he is not a great Senator..The two are not related. The hypocrisy is sweet but it doesn't discount the fact that whatever side of the aisle you sit on...Most of these guys couldn't keep it in their pants to save their lives or their political careers. I could actually care less about who someone is fucking a long as it is not the people they are supposedly serving.

Sure thing. I agree. Just, when someone decides it's okay for them, but not for me, then they are fucking me over. Of course, I'm not from the US, but the general feel of vaseline and a baseball bat is a fairly universal language, and the translation is "you're screwed".

We get that as much as you do, obviously.

Anyway.

It has been my observation that when people have double standards in one area, they have them in others, and the more glaring double standards they have in one area, the more other areas are affected, and the more severely. I couldn't care less if a regular Joe or Jane has a double standard, most of the time. But I do care when the people who make policy do, because that makes the gov't itself employ a double standard, which is incompatible with anything these countries' citizens want their countries to stand for.

Gov't needs to hold itself to a higher standard, or it is useless.

And gov't cannot function well with a dyadic worldview.

Just a fast reply....Vitter is a politician. He's a LOUISIANA politician. (I've lived in Louisiana since I was 5 and nothing ANY politician here or elsewhere does surprises me.) Why would anyone be surprised/shocked/outraged at anything any one of them would do?

True enough.

He did not come out and admit it when he was (according to him) first looking for forgiveness. No, he waited until he got caught.

There was a branch of Catholicism in the Middle Ages known as (IIRC) Martyrology. These were people who would wear 300 pounds of metal chains around their body, flail themselves with nettles and thorns, wear a crown of thorns, whatever, all to prove that they were more sinful and repentant than the next guy.

At least when Bill Clinton was finally found to have gotten semen on Monica Lewinsky's dress, he was man enough to NOT apologize. He simply stated that it was a lapse in judgement on his part, and that he accepted full responsibility for his actions.

Additionally, Robin Williams checked himself in to Rehab after Mel Gibson got arrested because he did not want to put his family through things.
