Neither is right to take a thread that was obviously started as a way of saying thank you to all and turning it into a personal rant. That is where my 'shame on you ' came from.

no the shame is on you for degrading someone else because they don't  believe in what Bush has done.  Have some respect - i don't care if you are military or not.  The whole country has lost respect for the president based on his decisions.  Look at the opinion polls and don't degrade another.  Be respectful.

I think that what most in this thread are trying to point out is that it was started as a way for those who DID have loved one's over there to say so without it being dragged into a huge debate over whether it's right or wrong.

If it turns into a huge political debate, the actual message gets lost.

With that said, I want to add my ^5 to all those who are serving and my hugs and well wishes to all those who have loved ones serving. It's hard enough being away from home; and it's hard for those left behind.

i believe anyone supports the Troops who are there but i don't think it is right for a person to be derogatory to someone who disagrees with what our stance is in Iraq and wants us to leave.  For anyone not to accept a differing opinion and degrade it goes against the country's opinion.

I have many loved ones there. I don't really blame anyone. My family members knew what they signed up for, and made the desion to do so. It doesn't make me worry any less. But all of them agree that they choose this as a profession.

Fine IrishMist i am done with it.   You can try to justify our behavior till you are blue in your face but anyone with any intelligence will tell you are wrong.  No it isn't unpatriotic to realize we made a very bad decision so try to sell it anyway you want.  We are totally out of line.  i support them being there because they have no choice.  Do i think it is right they are there?  Hell no!!  i think you confuse the two.

Patina,

I'll keep you and your son in my thoughts.

My um is 22, he's kind of the go to guy for F15's in the Air Force. They'll begin decommissioning them soon(08 I believe) and don't want to spend any money on them so when one breaks down my son is who they'll usually call on to fix them when no one else can. He often calls and says he'll be away for a week or two but isn't able to say where. I know when he calls and tells me he loves me at least 20 times that it is probably best I don't know where he's going. So he's probably been some dangerous places and I just don't know for sure. There are times I wish he wasn't quite so good at what he does.

Hang in there Patina, tell your son Thank you for all he does. Everyone else that has a loved one over there...Thank them as well.
