I'm not a Bush supporter or a Republican, but I have to admit I feel a strong sense of pity when I hear the man speak. It's like I feel embarassed for him because he just sounds so incoherent all the time. Anyone else have that feeling when he talks, regardless of whether you think he's right or wrong?

p.s. He has always struck me as being somebody horribly out of his depth. He even stated to a reporter years ago (as Governor of Texas) that he is a media creation who has never actually done anything in his life. His track record supports his self-evaluation.

Yet people thought he would make a good president. Go figure.

Lol! But does anyone feel a legitmate sense of sympathy for him, entirely apart from what they think of his policies? Maybe it's just me, because I was terribly shy growing up. I just do this huge internal cringe when I hear him speak.

I was reading an article about the thousands of returning GIs with TBI (Traumatic Brain Injuries) returning from Bush' adventure in the desert, and the complete lack of infrastructure to support their lifelong care.

Have a call in to the local VA to see if they need volunteers in the rehabilitation department. Its not like I have any free time, but the way the soldiers are treated is disgusting.

To answer your question, no. I do not feel any sympathy for him. He is an incompetent nitwit who has subjected thousands of innocent people to his insanity, and I can only hope that he is correct about the afterlife and there is a special hell reserved for him for what he is putting the rest of us through.

I used to feel pity for Reagan because he was such a tool and obviously suffering for Alzhemeirs. I was not really political back then (I was in junior high and high school when he was in office), but I would feel pity when he would forget what he was saying, or lose himself in a speech. It was very sad and obvious to me as a child that he was suffering from some sort of dementia and the media would make fun of him.

Pity Bush? Naw, he is a cretin, and that is not a brain disorder.

While Clinton is a very appealing and charismatic person, he is not my cuppa tea. I was drawn in by him as a young adult and I supported him during his presidency... but I no longer think of him fondly when I examine is policies which disagree with my political views, such as a globalization agenda.

I believe you are stuck in this paradigm of Democrat V. Republican and forget that many of us are neither of these things... common for people that are very politically partisan.

I'm not a supporter of President Bush either, but do feel sorry for him at times.

I seriously doubt this was what he had in mind for his time in office. I believe he looked at the financial state of the nation at the time President Clinton left office, and measured it against the situation in Texas after Mark White and Ann Richards. Governor Bush was able to accomplish much here, by spending money gathered by other people. It was easy for him to build bridges with the other party, when he had so much pork to pass out. I think this is what he had in mind for his term as President.

I think he has done an aweful job ... one of the worst Presidents in our history, in my view. I can make that statement without even considering Iraq, which I believe was a mistake that former Vice President Gore would have also made, had he won the election. He is bankrupting our nation, and we have gone eight years, without really addressing any serious domestic problem. The illusion that we have a vibrant economy, is just that ... and economy built on borrowing money that future administrations (not to mention tax-payers) will have to pay back.

I don't think President Bush was/is up to the job, and is highly influenced by people that could never get elected on their own. I feel his is being manipulated by people who have love of self, over love of country.

So yes, on some level I feel sorry for him.

While I know he had a very difficult opening term with 9/11.... A lot of his issues he brought onhimself with his diplomacy. Ive called him a idiot and a embarrassment to the state of texas. Honestly, I am ashamed to be a Texan right now with him in the WHite house. I do hope we get a leader who knows how to lead.

Bush knew what the job entailed, and in my opinion is a great example of the American Dream, because if a simple-minded, ignorant, inarticulate moron like him can be elected into the most powerful office in the country (on paper anyway) then there's hope for everyone.

Pity him? No. If anything I pity America, who has to endure this laughing stock as their figurehead in the same way we in the UK have to be represented on the world's stage by a lying, shameless freeloader who has systematically eroded almost everything good about the country over the last ten years, and who now walk away seen as the worst Prime Minister since time began (but who won't give a shit because he'll walk into some lucrative book deal or lecture circuit while the rest of the country has to suffer for his incompetence).

Clinton?

Mixed feelings, really. On a personal note I think the movie Primary Colors accurately predicted him. I would not ask him to babysit my kids or allow my daughter to be his intern. But that is just me.

As far as his ability to be President? Hrm. I disagree with his globalization actions, although those were started by those who came before him. On the other hand, he oversaw the largest economic expansion of the United States in the history of the country. The citizens of the United States were a lot better off under him. He stopped the first attempt to destroy the WTC, and prevented other terrorist actions, whereas AnencephalyBoy allowed the largest attack on American soil in history.

From the standpoint of what he actually accomplished during his time in office, I have a lot of respect for Clinton.

I spent my entire year as a senior in high school arguing with my lifelong Republican Party member / high school professor about republicans in general and Reagan in particular. We disagreed on almost everything from a political perspective.

I got an A+ in the class.

Go figure.

Dont pity all Americans, darcinshadows, there are a lot of people who voted to put that insane cretin and his Machiavellian henchman (Shotgun) into office.

I hope they can sleep at night knowing they are the reason we are stuck with AnencephalyBoy.
