I prefer longterm relationships. I just like being with the same person for a longtime, exploring all their facets. I like having a special someone.

I've never been one to have short term relationships. I'd never be with someone if I was planning for it to be short term. Maybe I'm a romantic, but I'm looking more for love than a one night stand.

Whatever works for where the energy is between myself and the other person.  I certainly can enjoy both simultaneously.

I prefer long term relationships, becasue I like to be able to build up between my someone special and myself. I want the trust and the comfort that comes with a god longer term relationship that is often not a part of a shorter term relationship.

Short term relationships can be most empowering, not mention a whole lot of fun!

There is nothing wrong with a little hedonistic pleasure now and then, and I am certainly not going to discard a wonderful night or three or seven with a smart, energetic, spirited woman just because she doesn't want to be "serious" or because she does not to commit to a LTR.

Preferrably??  Long term. But I cn do with shorts as well and have just as much a connection and romance as any relationship. It all depends on how you react to different situations and how you handle yourself.

Exactly!......my goal is long term at this point in my life, BUT
I'd much rather be alone than with the wrong person.

I've enjoyed both, at different times in my life. Not at the same time, though.

One of the absolute best times of my life was a summer spent with a younger college student. It was understood that it was temporary, in September he'd be going back down to Columbus. We really made the most of the time we had. =)

The original question was preference. My preference is long term but, as with so many other things in this "throw-away society"; relationships don't last.
 
My preference is for long term but, I have "gotten involved" in relationships which I knew would be short-term and I have even engaged in "meaningful, over-night relationships". While neither is my preference, they have their own good points (along with the obvious bad ones).
