where is the date? i ususually shoot for where we can talk freely. a movie isnt quite it. as a rule-it isnt good etiquet to try to get free med advice from date- [or law advice, tax advice etc] pick the event. it should be something like a walk at a park followed by a latte- lunch. ......but where u can relax and be u. breath. dont dwell about exes. leave the past in the past. ---a few of my jobs- "supervisor" [another word for head nurse] simply means you get stuck working when no one esle shows up. be courteous watch ur posture. i usually try for an event i would do anyway this way i still get something out of it. one date- the vietnam vet memorial was in town. it could have been wonderful. try not to only notice her breasts. notice her hair- her eyes, otehr features. you will do fine.

I'm sorry, but as a member of the nursing profession, we do have a "code of conduct" as well as ethical standards to abide by. Also, there are patient confidentiality/HIPPA laws as well. I'm not saying that she would "breach" any of these, but she may be tempted to look at your medical record even if she is not directly involved in your care. I wouldn't want someone that I don't really know knowing all my personal business like that. I would share that with them if/when I chose to. She could get into alot of trouble for accessing your medical record if found out. Alot of hospitals I have worked at have frowned upon co-workers fraternizing/dating although it does happen. As a matter of fact, it has happened at my last two jobs and has created alot of "drama" and somewhat of a "hostile work environment," which is a reportable ethical issue at HCA. Dating a patient would fall under that category as well. Besides that, there are also "personal boundaries" that each of us have that shouldn't be crossed. I consider that one of them. I can see that most of the men here think only with their "dicks" and not their brains. It's apparent by the responses you have received about "head nurses" and breasts. Practically every man alive has a "nurse fantasy" and thinks you should "go for it!" Well, this is NOT fantasy people...it's reality. At any rate, I wish you well in whatever decision you make. Perhaps you should seek out a new MD? That might solve some of the problem although access to your medical record is still available. It's definitely alot to ponder. I mean, if you really like this woman and want to date her...you will. I've just given you some things to think about as you mentioned.

as to the ethics and HIPPA issues......those breaches would be her choice. No matter what she learns in her professional life or her personal life, she should not divulge it in either place. If she looks in His chart and discusses it in anyway other than professionally, she is breaking ethics and law. In small town practices, doctors, nurses and indian chiefs deal with private information about everybody's husband, wives, children, parents, the town drunk, the town popular girl. If they did not have the ethics to keep things private and respect other people, then no one could work in the office. As for looking in His chart for your own curiosity, well in my opinion, that is just wrong. Just go on the date, have a good time. If the doctor had any reservations, he would not hav written the script.
