patina -> masters posting (4/13/2007 1:53:16 PM)

I was noticing the other day that the majority of the people who post on the forums are the same ones over and over again.  I also noticed that the males who state they are Masters, and really seem to be so post while the others who contact us looking for a sub/slave never post and in fact put the forum down.
I wonder if there is any methodolgy sp? to that.  Or if that is just the way to prove a real Master is found on the forum.

Would anyone like to voice an opinon on this observation.

thetammyjo -> RE: masters posting (4/13/2007 2:00:23 PM)

I think a minority of those on the website post.

I'm guessing most join to either find a partner or to just learn by reading. It can be scary to post. I think it can also be fun and helpful and frustrating to post as well.

I feel much as you do but from the other side of the dynamic. Someone who sends me a note but has not posted in threads I read will impressed me far less than someone who has. I like getting to know someone and in this venue, that's primarily done by reading their posts.

spanklette -> RE: masters posting (4/13/2007 2:03:24 PM)

Well, I think it's all in how they're spending their time on CM. Are they spending their time in dialogue with others or are they actively searching? There's nothing wrong with either of those options.

I've met plenty of healthy and sane individuals on the other side who do not post. They choose to spend their time searching or writing privately. These are not the same people who you would call HNG's.

I think the answer is really about your perspective and who you're getting messages from.

Celeste43 -> RE: masters posting (4/13/2007 2:07:11 PM)

My dom isn't on this site. We met on another and he rarely posts there, I think after five years he still has less than 50 posts. His interest is not in the theory or making friends, he joined in order to find a submissive female. He sees no real purpose to even reading the site, except occasionally to see what I'm posting about. He's goal oriented.

jauntyone -> RE: masters posting (4/13/2007 2:07:15 PM)

Greetings patina

I don't use one or the either to distinguish if one is real or not. As many have said before; it is in the actions that one proves their worth; not in the word.

I will say though that reading those who post here gives me a much better understanding of them; not to mention that I learn alot from all who post here, no matter thier orientation.

I wish you well

Yes, I'm with Tammyjo on this one.  I think the boards are a great way to see personalities come out.  Something that is a very nice advantage to them.  It's a good way to get to "cyber know" people on the site.

LadyHugs -> RE: masters posting (4/13/2007 2:11:26 PM)

Dear patina, Ladies and Gentlemen;

I can only speak for myself patina.  However, if I had slaves I would not be posting much at all, as my focus would be on my slaves and the life there.

Right now I am between slaves.  I can afford my time to be given elsewhere and if what words I write can help others--I am very pleased to be of help.

I have been on Collarme.com much longer then posting on the forums.
I held several positions and had been traveling here and there.  I'm the same person with or without the forums.

That said, forums can provide a refresher on things, as well as to hear or read the pulse of the larger BDSM and or M/s, D/s community at large.  It may provide confirming information or a new way to look at things.  Sometimes, finding a better way to quote as to make the entire point into a short quip.  Forums have a purpose but, I would not judge who is and who is not a good Master, Mistress, slave, submissive and this or that.  Only real face to face interaction can determine what quality is to you and anybody in the same situation.

As has been said many times and ways; Talk is just that--to be able to do as you talk is quite another.

Just some thoughts.

Respectfully submitted for consideration,
Lady Hugs

has been my observation long ago....
I can tell you one reason I know some dont come to forums...
well no...three
1) no need to read about others, dont give a damn
2) no need to give an opinion, dont care about others' anyway
I lied...4 !
3) not really looking to learn about lifestyle and learn new things within it, they like their own way
4) just looking to hook up, own, collar, uncollar, look again, own.....revovling door syndrome.

cyber "friendships" are NOT the same as knowing someone in person.
Yes some personality comes out, what we want to see of that other person, but who is to say that what we think we see is really the reality of that person we think we know from the forums????

Someone here thinks she has me all figured out, but she hasnt a clue.

I think it's really all about what you're here for. My focus changed a couple of years ago, especially since I took on Master rather than Mistress. But, even so, I still have posts under the old name. I simply LIKE to converse and I LIKE to talk about thing that I have in common with other people. I'm active on a Physics email list serve, too. This is just a way to communicate with likeminded people for me.

Personally (I hope this doesn't hurt any one) but I would never consider someone I knew only online, no matter how much we talked in private or for how long, to be my friend.

I consider only meatlife people after I've gotten close to them to be my friends. It generally takes a few years for me to consider someone my friend, sometimes I never consider someone my friend. We have people in our gaming group we've known through gaming for years not that I don't consider my friends. There were people I knew through munches for years that I never considered my friends.

But I do find it a useful way to see how a person is online by reading them on the forums.

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: masters posting (4/13/2007 2:43:28 PM)

It's nearly universal that females post far more than males on cyber forums.  Since in the heterosexual world, most doms appear to be male, you'll get more females (subs) posting.

Collarme is actually one of the more diverse groups out there IMO.

Sinergy -> RE: masters posting (4/13/2007 2:48:35 PM)

I post when I am waiting for dance class to start.

Tonight I am taking Balboa, a particular Lindy move, and Charleston.

Then it is time for the dance.  200 people.  All ages.  No alcohol.

Since I dont have to work tomorrow morning, I get to stay up past my bedtime.

MagiksSlave -> RE: masters posting (4/13/2007 3:33:18 PM)

My Master has  2 posts I think... But that doesnt make him any less of a Master then those that have 2000.. I fail to see what one has to do with the other.. the only coraltion I see is between the amount of posts and the amount of time one has to post.
(and one can see I have entirely too much time on my hands LOL)

I have also noticed that more women than men post on the boards, women tend
to be more chatty, but we do have a few chatty men around here, also.

ownedgirlie -> RE: masters posting (4/13/2007 4:35:32 PM)

My Master doesn't post to forums.  It's just not his thing.  He might peruse from time to time, but that's on rare occasion.  Doesn't make him unreal in my book.  I can't speak for the others.

Yeah, but there are some that say a whole lot...without saying anything of substance. (This isn't a passive-aggressive stab at you, Bounty Hunter, but I do have specific people in mind. LOL)

ExSteelAgain -> RE: masters posting (4/13/2007 5:28:05 PM)

Patina, you make some great observations from a certain perspective. Most of the Doms who post here are pretty much busy enough that they aren't actively seeking anyone. I have read your posts and know that you are looking for someone and the boards attract a different type CM member who is possibly more into writing about various subjects without looking for submissives. It could well be that those who simply blindly email you are far more likely to end up being your Dom. You may be onto something there. Good luck in any case because you do contribute an honest viewpoint here.

Yep, that's why I use the term "cyber know" rather than know or friends.  I'll often say things like "Nice to cyber meet you".  It's a more accurate term.  Actually, I'm a big believer on the difference between acquaintance and friend.  Knowing someone doesn't necessarily mean that I like them.
