If your screen name starts with Master, Sir, Lord, Daddy, or (what the heck) God... you may take this personally if you choose.  Otherwise, consider lightening up.

Do others notice the abundance of such names in Dom profiles, and their female equivalent?  When picking a screen name, I studiously avoided doing that.  Pick a reason (really, pick a reason, any reason...) but one good one would be simply making yourself more easily noticeable.  Think of that old saw about names in a phonebook...

I haven't noticed a similar phenomanon in submissive profile names, but it could be I've missed that pattern.

"A rose by any other name... " etc., and you can call yourself whatever you like, but I can't resist wondering whether it provides the connotation that those soi-disant Master Sir Lord Daddies are reaching for .... ?

*immediately edited for poor spelling.  Good thing my name isn't SuperSpeller...

I don't really care what name they go by here, as long as they don't expect everyone to call them by it.

oh... good catch there, hereyesuponyou...

Now then, it is actually "...rexIT", which is a homophonic hint.

there's a reason why i have part of Daddy's name as mine - i got tired of telling Doms under my old collarme name that i was happily taken by bigsambaman yet they still persisted trying to lure me away from Him.  so one night i deleted the old account and created another one with his name clearly stating i'm a chained and collared daughter to Him.  what's not clearly stated in my profile that i'm allowed to meet and date others with His permission for good reason - i want the right in replying to whomever i choose.

What about the "precious" "sweet" "lilone" "sub" "slave" "owned" "lost" "open" "takeme" that you see for the subs?

Cliches abound in the scene- sometimes it's good to embrace it, sometimes it's not.

Personally, I think your choice makes a lot of sense.

Whenever I see a possesive in a screen name, it identifies you as taken, attached, occupied, not currently looking.  I find that helpful, in that it saves us all time.

At first glance I read that as a homophoBIC not phonic reply lol.

Yup, I took that risk in word selection.  Made sure that one was properly spelled, but can't seem to handle the really little words today...!

I have noticed the abundance of 'titled screen names', not so much lately, i think. Unfortunately, i among the titled ones.

I chose my name because it was the name i was called by my owner at the time, and never really changed it.

I think people just like to let others know what they're orientation is right off the bat. So, SlaveSeeking knows right away whether DomlyOne is a dominant or a submissive (obviously). Just makes things easier maybe.

It does not bother me ...not sure why.

Probally because imagination plays so heavily in our lifestyle. What we do is cultivate sex in and of the mind. And we dont just stop at cultivation, many of us become consummate connoisseurs of our craft, and all the props, from a heavy gage chain wrapped around innocent tender flesh, to a honorifics worthy of royalty are all there to serve the same purpose to create the most dramatic theatrical back drop for the theater of our hearts.

I've never really thought about the cliches used in names before other than thinking lack of imagination was behind it.

I think this is an astute observation. I have a screen name on another site that denotes my love of physical exercise and ties it to a bondage reference. I do not think it is any different than someone that is an art lover, or a hiker, or a cyclist using some reference to something that they love and identify with. As long as people do not expect me to refer to them by their self appointed titles.. it really does not matter to me.

When my Master -warning "cliche" alert! - (Lord Jessie) chose His and my screen names, He wasn't attempting to be cutesy or imaginative.  Simply, He was stating who and what W/we are - end of story.  Since neither of U/us came here to find O/our significant other, thinking up the cutest, most intriguing names in order to catch someone's attention simply wasn't an issue.  Geesh, i've seen people picked apart for everything under the sun but their choice of names, give me a break.....slave luci
