Sanity -> RE: Has the Government reach into collarme? (3/16/2007 12:50:25 PM)

You can count me in - I'll take charge of the sniffin' out the commie pinko weasels department.

Excellent! Let’s move the current bunch of toe jam sniffers out and take over the department. I’m sure we could do a much better job. We’ll put LuckyAlbatross in charge of record keeping (she’s always excellent at looking things up). Popeye has military experience so we’ll put him in charge of the Fast Response Commando Team. Mnottertail and Gooddogbenji are always good with cleaver comebacks so we’ll put them in charge public relations. As for me, I’ll secure all our military contracts – baby needs a new yacht, if you know what I mean. I’ll leave it to others to figure out the rest of the staffing.

I ask this question because when I logged off I found a statement requiring my date of birth and "signature."  I wonder how much of this information is being turned over to the government so they can track all us kinksters.

I am wondering why we get that message when we log out instead of when we log in.[8|]

I think I am in love. Dear Mod 11, will you marry me?

This was priceless.

I cannot think of a better way to diffuse this situation than to tell the truth in such a way that no one will believe it.

I was TAD to an aircraft carrier in the Phillippines when my buddy and I brought  a dimunitive hooker on board in a foot locker.  When the OD asked what was in the foot locker I told him we had a midget hooker in there,,,he cautioned me not to be such a smart ass and waved us onboard.
Sometimes the simple truth works far better than the best lie.

Seriously, though, are we going to be looking forward to being asked to provide this kind of private information, in order to access collarme, in future?

[And by the way, it's not collarme, but some third party - I don't recall their business name - who collects this information, according to the screen.]

I got on a plane the other day to go to San Francisco.

I was wearing my t-shirt that has a picture of Geronimo and a few of his buddies with rifles in hand.

The caption on the top reads "Homeland Security" and on the bottom reads "Fighting Terrorism since 1492"

I realized as I was going up to the front of the line that perhaps this was not the best t-shirt to wear going
through TSA security.

Go figure.

dcnovice -> RE: Has the Government reach into collarme? (3/17/2007 9:12:37 PM)

This thread brings to mind a Bill Maher comment last night that made me howl. Talking about how the government monitors everything and everyone these days, he said, "Every morning I mail myself a copy of the Constitution in the hope that they'll finally read it."

SusanofO -> RE: Has the Government reach into collarme? (3/17/2007 11:31:09 PM)

marc2b, Sanity, mnottertail (and Mod 11): I couldn't agree more. Maybe I am either naive or in complete denial, but I can't figure out how anyone can really be all that scared of a government that clearly lacks the ability to coordinate efforts to:

1) Balance the national checkbook (Treasury)

2) Organize a recoup of even a quarter of all the Hurricane Katrina mess, when they've had over a year and a half to do it (and promised they would)

3) Went into a war without bothering to verify if there was a truly viable threat, or even ensure our miliatry had the proper equipment on hand to fight, and enough soldiers to do that with.

4) The Department of Homeland security cannot monitor aiport or sea-going vessel cargo holds at all, or very well (depending on location). Loads of methapetamine, heroin, cocaine, and human underage (and adult) real-life slave trafficking occurs on a regular basis. They cannot appear to even monitor our national borders very well at all. What in heck would make someone really believe they'd be able to monitor yours?

They can't even seem to get a top exec that can, or will, stick with the job. The practical application of their "mission statement" is all over the place. They are underfunded, and don't have the manpower, or the current competence, to monitor all of the stuff that is going on on these areas already deemed by them as "more serious" (in their own words) let alone monitor the intent of more inconsequential (to them) citizens 1-4,000 on a bdsm website who might be swinging a flogger on week-ends. I think I have not much to worry about, and I just can't get real terrified.

Maybe they want you to think you should be terrified - after all, that might cut down on them having to even think of, let alone, actively monitor you (they are grossly underfunded, after all) but IMO, a lot of the time it seems to me this government of ours can barely keep their own shoes tied, if they know how to even do that.

Supposing they had data files from CM - is it very likely they really have enough manpower, competence, and the inclination to do anything with them?

IMO: No. make that a resounding No.[:D]

No offense to the good cops, and security folks who may work for the Feds out there (I know they do their best when and where it really counts, sometimes, as they are able.)

But I have to say  -

That department is underfunded, understaffed, and appears, based on most evidence I've read, (three major news magazines, and on a weekly basis)  to have a poor sense of coordination and direction - look at the evidence of that instead, for a second or two.

Yeah - I'm terrified. I'm shaking in my shoes, in fact.[:D]

I'd be much more concerned about a potential IRS tax return audit, if I were you. [:o] [;)]

If you are a heroin dealer or something of that ilk, and also on this site, you might then have something to worry about. If you're not, I say - RELAX.

- Susan

LaTigresse -> RE: Has the Government reach into collarme? (3/18/2007 4:40:23 AM)

I checked with my cousin, the cute little federal agent I used to baby sit, he still thinks I am that "sweet older cousin that used to sneak him cookies" past his health food freak mom.

I think we are not on the high priority list.[;)]

Vendaval -> RE: Has the Government reach into collarme? (3/18/2007 4:51:51 AM)

Hey, I have that shirt!  lol

The American Indian Student Association sells it at cultural events both on and off campus.
We get great positive feedback from people.
And the other guys on the photo are relatives of Geronimo,
a son and a half brother and a cousin, if memory serves correctly.

Nowadays, with Identity Theft on the rise, the best policy is "Restricted Disclosure". Unless someone can convince me they can properly safeguard my personal information ( Including respecting ALL my restrictions on the associated Intellectual Property rights ) then they get nothing, and if they insist, they get false data to fill up the database with errors.

Is the government going to outsource sex?  Oh, hell no.

What I want to know, nay, demand to know is -
Do the hookers have a "U.S.D.A. Approved" stamp
on their asses?
