So the trip was sort of a pilgrimage too then? [:)]

lol... we are amused.  [:D]

Well, it is very dark now and we aren't far from the half-way point.  Gotta say it's been a fairly sedate trip so far.  No rowdy music or highway antics here.  We've not even had to keep watch for the highway patrol as we're stuck driving under the speed limit because of the car carrier we're towing.  Conversation is even a little difficult due to the roar of the truck.     My middle son has tried to keep me entertained with text messages while he drives back to college and FirmhandKY has had umpteen phone calls from home with "emergency" issues to attend to.  Poor man is always on "Dom duty".

We are on Interstate 40 now and according to the GPS Domme we will be on it for quite some time.  There's actually quite a bit of traffic for this time of night, though the great majority of it is semi tractor-trailers.  America's vast distribution system at work.

Again, thank you to those wishing us well.  This is a huge step for us and one we've been looking forward to.  Neither FirmhandKY or I ever intended to become involved with someone so far away, but when it's right, it's hard to argue with fate.  [;)]

Oh, thank you.  [:D]

We are now within about 10 miles of my new home.  Surprisingly we are both wide awake... hopefully we can stay that way long enough to unload.  Not really looking forward to that, but it has to be done.

Hey, I just realized that I need to change my profile now from Texas to Kentucky.  [;)]

Congrats losttreasure and I think you are doing the right thing by going into this slowly and taking your time. Really get to know each other before moving in together is always a good idea.[:)]

We're here!   [:D]

Of course, we got here early, early this morning.  After parking the truck and unloading my car, we went out to have breakfast while we waited for the apartment office to open.   A quick lease signing later, we began unloading.  That went much more quickly than loading and we had all but a very few heavy items unloaded when we took a break for some much needed sleep.

I honestly don't know how long we slept, but it couldn't have been more than four or five hours.  FirmhandKY was up and arranging things for half and hour before I woke; the sweetheart he is, when he woke, he closed the bedroom door and let me continue to sleep.  Honestly, I have to say that this has been the easiest and least stressful move I have ever made.  FirmhandKY is the most incredible man... he has been wonderful!  Of course, I think he's wonderful anyway.  [;)]

Not to digress, but my middle son (the one away in college) finally had the opportunity to meet FirmhandKY while we were in Texas.  Before we left, he gave FirmhandKY his seal of approval and declared him "cool".   [:D]

Anyway, after a final push and very short time, we got the last of the truck unloaded.  FirmhandKY cleaned out the truck while I went to pick up some dinner.  Now sated, it's time to clean up and enjoy a bit of relaxation.  Completely unpacking will have to wait and I'll manage that a bit at a time over the next few days.  It'll give me something to do as I've not yet ordered my phone, internet access or cable.  I need to take FirmhandKY home tomorrow morning as he's left his business unattended for the past five days and has a lot to catch up on.

Thank you all, again, for the well wishes and for graciousness you've shown as I've rambled on while recording this move.  It's a very important step for FirmhandKY and I, and it's been a pleasure to have you all to share it with.
