As i'd be so jealous having to share my partner with someonelse.I don't know how anyone can do this i really don't thankgod it's illegal in England.But i hear it has quite a cult following in the good old USA.Which seems utterly crazy to me but what do you think?

A rather odd question to ask in a polyamorous forum. Personally I like it quite well, though I would hardly call it a cult over here. There aren't very many of us. So no it doesn't seem any crazier than thinking one person can meet all your needs.

Edited to add: WTF KINDA BS QUESTION IS THAT??? although I am glad you fixed the typos in the header. Polyamory isn't for everyone, most can not handle a relationship with only one person. But in my opinion, there may be more sacrifices at times but there are way more joys.... of course I'm a bi-sexual slut so I'm biased. You sir, have obviously never been to the "states" and know very little about what goes on over here.

Sooooo....you hate that the lifestyle you choose is illegal, but are thankful to god that a lifestyle that is not your choie IS? Not very tolerant. Being poly is a natural thing for some people. It doesn't mean that we never have jealously issues or bad relationships or whatever...it means that we are happier when we have more than one partner. Some people are wired this way, some are not. Well said singsomelyrical. I didn't answer the survey because of it's bias. I'm not even sure what the poster means by illegal. We also have all kind of silly co-habitation laws. Is poly legal in the US? If so it will be news to most people. Does the UK actually have a law which says "Polyamoury is illegal?" I don't know and I don't trust the word of the poster.

You might be jealous, but not everyone is. And polyamoury is not illegal anywhere. POLYGAMY is, having more than one legal spouse is illegal most places. Polyamoury is not, however, since there are no laws on how people can date. Check your terms. If you dont like the poly lifestyle, than dont engage in it. You wouldnt speak poorly of Gay relationships, just becasue you aret gay, would you? Should we end Daddy Dom/femsub realtionships becasue you dont agree with that concept too? If you arent interested in someonthing, then stay away from it, but dont be intolerant of others that are happy that way. DV

Are you directing this question at only those members that live in the USA? If so you should say so in your post. There are members of this site from all over the world including some from countries where polygamy is actually legal. You are correct that polygamy is illegal in the UK but that does not mean that there are no polyamorous relationships in the country. You would be aware of this from your membership to a UK based bdsm site that you used to frequent. One that you no longer use due partly I think to so many people being annoyed at your constant posting of ridiculous questions in off topic forums. Perhaps you need to step back a bit and think about what you are doing here before continuing to post these sorts of "questions"

It's illegal to marry more than one person, but it is not illegal to live with any number of people you wish, as long as they are adults and doing it of their own free will. M

The post here are very well written and well said. While it is illigal to have a polyagmist household, it is not illegal to have more than one partner. Partners are an emotional connection, thus polyamorous is the proper usage of words. I believe that polyamorous is a mindset which means you dont limit the love you share with a partner. And of course if its just a physical connection.. one of sexual libido and satisfaction.. Thats just as good as long as its mutual with all parties involved. There are so many biased people when it comes to the word "poly" they judge it as a bad thing without understnaidng how deep and how genuine it can be between 3 or more people. (nods) M.L.G

I couldn't live poly, however i think it should be legal. It dosn't hurt anyone, perhaps emotionally people can get burnt, but gee dosn't that happen in monogamous relationships all the time? And in certain situations where unmentionables are being raised in the household, it can help to provide a stable environment for them - someone always at home to look after them, rather then the kids home alone or in after school care- Basically i believe in freedom of choice, if people want to live poly let them. If you don't like it you dont have to associate with them. twisted

Given the right situation I could live in a poly household- there is no room for jealousy. Every person is connected to the other- open communication and it's not all about sex like the outside world would have you think. It's not for everyone and surely it's not for me unless the conditions are right..

It is already illegal to marry more than one person in America, so i can only assume these 22 % want the goverment to start passing laws on who we can date and sleep with. Don't you think they are already spending too much time worrying about this? Do you really want them to start arresting people who are in a relationship with more than one person at a time? As to the OP, so you don't want a poly relationship, that's nice. Not everyone is like that and that's good too. i know many poly households and they are very happy with the arrangement.

Some people are able to be polyamorous and some people can not be polyamorus. Not everyone is hardwired for monogamy. I don't believe it is correct to classify polyamorus relationshps as a cult and it is definitely not restricted to the USA either. It appears poly isn't your thing but just have a open and honest discussion with someone who is poly and listen tho their views. This will help give a better understanding on how they think, which in turn will enlighten yourself. What I'm trying to say is to simply understand their side even though you personally don't agree with the concept of being poly.
