The skin thread that is currently running got me to thinking about something my mother told me about recently, which is that researchers have determined that crying emotional tears is good for us. Tears release toxins that build up in the body due to stress. This is why we often feel better after a good cry.

I always feel better after a good cry but not straight away. The headache, the runny nose and the sore eyes prevents me feeling better for a good few hours.
In fact i had a good cry last night and my eyes are still sore 12 hours later. Emotionally though i do feel pretty good ish lol.

Men arent supposed to cry.

I havent had a good cry in 20 years; hance the hurt, anguish, frustration comes out in other ways.

When my dad passed away in 1985, I never had a good cry. Over the years- I made some wrong decissions due to this.

I was very angry at my mother. My then boyfriend had chemist skills- he concocked some kind of pill and insisted I take it. I took his home made pill. Cried- per mom, then was able to forgive mom. It helped. Mom and I are close.

I am 1 of 4 children. Each of us- still effected by loss of dad.  I see it in each of them. [as well as my mom]

Frankly dad would be proud of all 4 of his kids. I know it.

Funny thing. dad always knew he would die early. Ild give anything for our heated debates. My bros would listen in awe. Many ended with dad saying "you talk with a paper azz".   LOL. I miss that. MY bro misses hearing these/

Men arent supposed to cry.

That's just not true hun. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a man crying in my opinion.

Crying is good for you.   Emotional tears differ from irritant tears.

I admire this welder dude that has musles like an ox. when his wife was leaving him- the tears flowed. when i told her about it- she said he was faking it.

only the married couple knows the truth- i only know as an observer.

I wish I could release the built up tension like Paul did.  I just cant.

Its better than getting sick because your body cannot release its emotional stress. Cry Cry Cry... keep on crying... it won't hurt you.

I agree that crying can be very good for us, both on a chemical and emotional level. Crying can help us to acknowledge sadness, confusion, fear, pain, loss, happiness, strong emotion, anger etc etc etc. The difficulty as someone who may be seeing someone else cry is to stop ourselves from giving them a hug, telling them everything is ok, platitudes such as 'there there don't cry' etc as these can actually inhibit the emotional response. It also may be showing our own discomfort or unease about showing emotion rather than acknowledging the other person's feelings.

I cry alot especially if i feel sad,or when watching a sad film.I guess im a guy,who is in touch with his feminine side,as i know alot of blokes are incapabable of expressing just how they feel, through their emotions.Cause they see people who cry are weak, and as the saying goes men are'nt supposed to cry.But i personally think it's good to express just how you feel, regardless of what other people may or may not think of you.
