I get so sick of this shit sometimes. Country this, Bush that, all this political shit. It is fine, but I need a break. Things are bad, real bad. I already know it, and probably know worse shit then many. But what makes you happy ? Tell you what did it for me recently, I played one of my songs, an original. I copy noone. What made me almost smile was when people were tapping their feet and kinda getting into it. Afterwards them telling me that I should record it at the very least. This song only has four chords, but then they do not sell by chord count. That gave me a type of satisfaction that is rare indeed. How about you, how do you top it off ? What smokes your shorts (in the figurative sense). Performing, people give me rave reviews, but I know them.Don't get me wrong, it is great. And that is kinda what I mean. Problem is these are my friends. I see the reaction, tapping feet, possibly even a bit of singing along, but I know them. So it pleases me to know that they like to hear me play, but I need to get out more. I mean play it for a bunch of strangers. If they like it I will be back in an ecstatic state of mind. This is what I like. T

As sappy as it may sound, love and friendship make me happy. I've come to the realization that if you have those two things, in abundance, most everything else pales in comparison.

The sound of laughter. Knowing that the kind of dirt I get all over me earning a living will come right off in the shower. A commute on a clear freeway with good music in the CD player. When my wife calls me at work for nothing but to say, "I love you." The sound of the ocean on a rugged bit of coast... Y'know, life is pretty damn good. edited to add: When my company cell phone rings right before I leave, and they tell me to stay home.

That the past is the past, and the future holds a million possibilities. That my niece agreed to be my maid of honor..even though she will probably have to wear pink.[:D] (to quote her "I will only wear pink for my Aunt..ever) That I have a lot of love in my life, I smile everytime I think about it..and breathe a sigh of relief that things in the past didn't go ahead and work out, cause I wouldn't be right here, right now.

Knowing that I've worked through so many of my issues on my own. Knowing that everyday as I scratch one more off my list that I'm becoming who I'm supposed to be. But honestly, hearing my best friend giggle makes me the happiest person in the world. Because she does it so rarely and her laughter warms my heart. shrug Oh and when I get an amazing idea, and figure out what I'm going to do with it.

A hassel free life would make me very happy, but some how i don't think that's ever going to happen... So i'll settle for socialising, having a good natter with my friends will always lift my spirits..

Holding my grand-UM, and rubbing my cheek against his fuzzy little head. He had a rough start, and almost didn't make it a couple of times, but now the 16 pound little Emperor rules the world (he thinks!) and I couldn't be happier about it.

I am happy when I take the dog on a 2 mile hike every Sat. and Sun. regardless of the weather. I see small herds of deer, hawks and bald eagles almost every time. It makes the dog happy also because he knows it is hike day and he nags the crap out of me until we go lol. I like metal detecting before I go to work on 2nd shift Mon. thru Fri. when you pull a 100 year old coin out of the ground it feels like your lucky day. Motorcycle riding and camping in the mountains is a awesome feeling. I only do motorcycle camping trips anymore. You get a much better view. Visiting family and friends on the weekends is great also. I doubt you wanted to hear this much lol. That is my 100 year old nickels worth.

OK this may sound odd, but I am making a concerted effort to like everything around me. I am trying to find joy in mundane things. I am becoming fairly adept at it. I know there are things that I get more bliss from than others, but I have one life, I want to enjoy as much of it as I can.

Taking a hike thru the woods with my camera while mildly stoned...........just something that came to mind. I have cabin fever and am soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ready for spring. Racing my fastest horse over a freshly harvested soybean field or down a dirt road. Art. Gardening Watching the hummingbirds in the summer. Pretend planning trips I wish I could take. Challenging myself.

Hearing the laughter in my daughters voice; seeing the sun come up and set one more day; hearing the birds outside my window and the purr of contentment from my cat on my pillow. Just a few things that make me happy.

Riding my horse down a tree lined trail through the woods...urging him to a gallop, hearing his hooves thunder and feeling his lean muscles stretching out beneath me as he digs for that extra ounce of speed... ...snuggling with my puppy dogs all curled up against me in bed under the covers on a cold night.... ....a long intellectual conversation with my best friend about life, the universe, and everything :)
