Please bear with me while I brag a little...one of the dogs I raised and showed is going to the prestigious WESTMINSTER show this week!

I bought him as a puppy, raised him, showed him locally, then sold him to someone who would show him nationally because I knew  I didn't have the resources to do so myself and he was too nice not to go to the big shows.

I am SO proud and just had to brag. Hopefully he wins the breed and gets to be on TV for the Group judging!

Please everyone send him good luck wishes! He's an american eskimo dog and his name is Ch. Kort-mars Sparkling Diamond, call name Gandalf!

Here's a pic: isn't he gorgamous!

Thank you guys! I'm kind of sad now that I sold him because I wish I had been the one to show him...but I also know I would never have had the time or money to take him to the top. So these days I just cheer from the sidelines!

Here's a puppy pic:

He and I at his first show (he was being such a goober...who would have thought that was a westminster contestant in the making!)

I'm surprised they haven't hired Fred Willard to do color commentary for the dog show after the job he did in the movie Best in Show. All the dialogue there was improvised and he was GREAT!

That movie was awesome if you know anything about dog shows...I have a feeling it might be boring for people who aren't "in the know" about such things.

Been in my MythTV recording list for a week already. Will keep an eye out. We used to do the Saluki thing.

Cool looking.. Yes... But so damn dumb. Now I'm down to a single Am-Staff-Mutt, a pair of cats, and a couple of kids running around.

One Day At A Time...

I can own ONLY ONE DOG!

I love that movie, it was good.  I guess because I treat my dogs like kids, I can understand the mentality.

A very beautiful dog it is, and I am sure he knows who his "real" momma is.

My dog eats her own shit.

My kids generally do not.

Yeah, it's a MINOR point, but there it is.

LOL, I chose dogs INSTEAD of kids...I'm pretty happy with the choice so far!

I'd love to get back into showing though....if only I had the time!

Good luck to Gandalf! That's quite an accomplishment! Congratulations!

I'm headed for a "Westminster Party" this week, My dog isn't there but he's out campaigning for his Championship - perhaps Westminster will be in his future one day, who knows?

Our breed club is hosting a dinner party for the club, and we'll all be watching the Group judging into the wee hours, no doubt!  I'll probably be late to work Wednesday morning!

I'll be watching your Group for Gandalf, fingers crossed!

Good luck to your dog! Do you show just akc or ukc also? Gandalf did UKC mostly as a puppy and during his first year...AKC competition is a bit stiffer I think and he was sort of a late bloomer, so he didn't start that until after he was two.

I hate that they only show the group judging on TV...I wish they showed all the breed rings as well, but I guess that would take forever. He's up against some tough competition, but even if he doesn't make it to the group ring and  TV, I'm still just proud that he got invited in the first place!
