Status: offline 		Here we are on the seizure law- slippery slope.

1st billed as a way to fight drugs.

Now- Americas most liberal city- LA, is seizing the auto/truck that a man who solicits a prostitute in!

How is prostitution different  then alimony? diamonds? dinner and dance?

FKKK the govts seizure laws!

Status: offline 		In Los Angeles...no idea what LA means.  They will seize your car if you are driving without your drivers license. 
There are plenty of laws out there....so why not seize your car if you are breaking the law while in it?

Status: offline 		The way I understand that law, the property owner need not be guilty of a crime in order for seizure to occur. If for instance a tenant of a leased home is involved in drug dealing, the building may be seized despite the landlord knowing nothing about the crime.

Maybe people should try fighting fire with fire. Say like planting a small crop of weed in the mayor's back yard, then informing the police of the crop. If they fail to seize the property, call the media and rant about the mockery of justice.

it varies from state to state. the south has some bizarre laws.

this reminds me- i havent checked on my mary j plnatation in a few days....better make sure the booby trap  is still there-   ;0

you are mixing apples and oranges.
 
this slave assumes pahunkboy is making reference to a law the city of Los Angeles decided to make, not a federal law that says growing weed in your backyard is a crime.
 
and to take it one step further, the law of the Great State of California allows for the mayor or his/her caregiver, or anyone else an M.D. reccommends marijuana for, or their designated caregiver to grow 12 immature or 6 mature plants for personal use.  currently, the city of Los Angeles has adopted no law to infringe on the rights of the citizens of the state to cultivate marijuana for their own personal medicinal use.
the only mockery of justice is when the DEA stomps in and declares it justice to deny medicine to sick people, but we are working on that.

Status: offline 		Even in our small town they will seize your car if caught with over an oz of weed or few  pills with out a scrip for them...this is an another tax on the people and again it supports of local police with operating funds so they can continue to do this..Just fine their ass and leave their property alone...I don't condone drug usage I support the rights of the people....BH

Chicago also conduct police stings sometimes in high traffic areas around town.

in a suburb called Cicero and other surrounding burbs, they will publish your name, address, make and model of your car, where you were arrested and the name of the motel in a weekly newspaper

Ahhhhhhhhh yes. Cicero. The hang out of the mob. The suburb where the entire city cousel was endited by grand jury.

Cicero is the town where Al Capone hid out. The feds found him there- went to trial- he went to jail. The neighbors had no idea.

Now if you lived in "Stickney" ild send my condolances. I hate the pollution smell there.

I had been following the hired truck scandal.  Did you know Cook county has more litgations per capita then anywhere else on earth?

I grew up in the Palos section. One of the mayors- looted the treasury- then fled to Michigan.

Chicagoland is the epitome of scandals! It is entrtainment all unto itself.

My bro in Orland park- well the book mobile somehow had an accident tht hurt a child. This program was meant to promote reading. It was insured for 1 million $. Well the parents sued, awards multi millions. SOOOOOOOOOOO- every homeowner got a special assessment on their tax bill- of $500.00. All for a book mobile.  Can you imagine how many books a town of 60,000 + per $500 a house-could have bought? 

when i lived in Chicago- it got to the point that i stopped reported crimes that happened to me. it did no good.

If I ever get back to Chicago- Ild love to share a latte with you. [i am gay=-this isnt a pass at you]

there's so much corruption surrounding the Mayor this year that it's a known fact he'll be re-elected again for a 5th term.  the other candidates don't stand a chance.

I view the west coast as more tolerant, more creative, a place here dreams can come true.
The east coast is more uptight, rigid, a bit provincial.

The LAPD takes alot of heat. I watch KTLA prime news. I subscribe to it specifically for Hal Fishman, and the live car chases.

Rationally- I could never afford CA home prices. Nor do I want a room mate. You get so much more house for the money elsewhere.

In the 90s,  I Shared a 2 bedroom aparment for 7 years. Heated, W/S/garbage, off street parking. My rent was $195.00. Electric bill under $20.00. 1/2 of that is $97.50, and $10.   During this time- I travelled alot- had my teeth fixed. The out rent went up to $250.00!   My room mate and I were fighting- he moved out. So I was burdened with $300.00 to maintain a household.  From there I moved to a 3 bedroom, in a pricey zip code. My rent was $100.00.   During such time- I have a bit of mattress money.

Status: offline 		PA is like my 2nd home ...Reading, State College, Harrisburg , Huntingdon (love my uncle's house on the mountain), Philly, Pitts - it's great to have family living there. doing 85mph through the mountains as the sun goes down just to get to Harrisburg in one day.

most liberal city - certainly not Chicago. we have the most corruption from dirty cops to city workers including the mayor but he denies everything.

Great! I mentioned gay- as I am not after sex.   I am no threat to your boyfriend.
It makes it easier to disclose that im not programmed to mate with females- some men are very possessive of the lady- and if a man even looks at her, or speaks to her- it is viewed as a "dis"- as his lady is his- and no other guy is to chase what is dear to him.

My friend jenny isnt allowed to have male friends. [due to her bf ]  However she and I can talk and hang out- he is fine with that- she darent so much as say hello to a male when in public together-even if it is a coworker- she then is required to go into a lenghty explanation as to who it was.......arghh

I moved away from chi in 88. So i dont know alot about 2007 chi.

BTW- my best friend was to a few conventions at mccormick place.  He was impressed with how efficient things went. The meeting let out early- so 50 ??? people needs a taxi.   with in a few minutes taxis were there.
in terms of conventions- Chicago runs its act- as a class act.  of course navy pier, mich av, the gold coast-  all immaculate- not a piece of litter. police presence.

Also- let me say this. Chicago does a HORRIBLE job at disabled parking spaces. The museums have them. But teh neighborhoods- say belmont-milwaki, NONE. some of the good shops are there.

Have you ever been to the elephant thrift store?

Is it still there?
