OMG OMG- I am 50 miles north of Harrisburg. [rt 15] Im in Selinsgrove. It is next to Sunbury. Surely you heard of Lewisburg? I am 15 miles south of Lewisburg. 75 miles east of State College. on i80, exit 210, south. I can practically throw a rock into the Susquehanna river.

zipped through Lewisburg and Selinsgrove too. i love the small towns - good eating and lots of places to explore. plus i'm a shopoholic - i love the garage sales. oh i'm not worried about my bf and Daddy - they know i have plenty of male friends and chat with them more than i do with my gfs. go figure on that on.

yes when Chicago's hosting a convention, everything runs like a tight naval ship ...you should have seen the fun i had during the Democratic Convention in 96 - security was so tight even we the puny volunteers had to be searched every day when entering the DNC headquarters. i got to know the secret service guys very well. cabs make lots of money by McCormick place and along Michigan AV and Wicker Park 24/7. litter is picked up early in the morning and late at night - the mayor prides himself on having the "house" clean for all our guests when they visit.

btw the White Elephant shop by Children's Memorial is still there. i need to go back there soon - saw some rugs one night and this sheer dressing gown and robe...

Umm- it might be the pink elephant. it was a gay thrift store. in the 80s i furnished my 1st apartment from there for $200. all nice stuff. whne i lived on the southside- ild go there for my clothes. the northside is trendier then the southside. so ild get my wardrobe- in like new condition at cheap prices, as it was just coming in style on the south side!

If you are in my area- Ild be happy to take you to 6 of our thrift stores. I guarantee you will not leave empty handed!! Also- no sales tax in PA on clothing.

The restaurants are better in Chicago. Selinsgrove-Sunbury- basically has overpriced chain food places- all precooked microwave stuff. Tho- some of the sandwhich shops in the boonies put out awesome sandhciiches. [mom and pop places]

I had a coworker that -she and her husband ate out every night at the middleburger. She claimed it was cheaper then cooking.

unless you're talking about the Brown Elephant on north Clark - the rents are much higher now since "Boy's Town" has become one of the many fashionable places for young singles and yuppies to live. however it's still one of the best places around Wrigleyville to hear good music and have a great time.

Chicago has taxes for everything - downtown tax (for shopping downtown ...so small you might not notice it), carry-out food tax, food tax, general merch tax. it's a riot watching our city dollars at work - banning foi gras and trying to get rid of street musicians (because they are performing too loud downtown)

I don't know how the law in LA is written, but siezue without due process is like the drug siezure law. They take it and you don't get it back if innocent.

I wonder if it is illegal to pick up a friend who is a hooker and not have sex with her?

I wonder what people would consider "Liberal" as opposed to what they'd consider just plain "strange?"
Some people think of San Francisco as "Liberal".
I think of it as very "odd" and "strange".
There's different degrees of "Liberal" but once you go past those degrees where are you then?
Is dressing up like a giant chicken and being in a parade considered "Liberal?"

Good point. Anyone that has ever had their house searched knows --a few years ago- 5 boxes of stuff was taken - + my computer. I never got it back. The PD handcuffs you as they do the search. 3 officers- in differnet parts of the house. Grabbing anything - teh right to remain silent- HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! I asked them to please not destroy my place. They took porn, papers, elctronics. During the search the Police actually COMPLAINED that my house was messy!! Excuse me, but it is my home. Furthermore- they refused my elderly mother entry into the house during the search. I was arrested and taken to be booked. This was 8 am in the morning. I wear jogging shorts to sleep. So thats how I answered the door. Judges here do not allow shorts in their courtroom. I am legally-permanently and totally disabled. Wearing handcuffs I was "allowed to change my outfit to pants. I asked the officer for help. [change pants with handcuffs on] He started to help- then said thats all your getting f@ggot. so there is was not zipped up.
Other then traffic tickets I had no record what so ever.

This was only the beginning.

My poor mom - I asked her to be at the trial.

I wanted her to see what was going down. It was very embarrassing. Mom had to hear all the sexual details.

The police also lied to mom. Originally they told her- my infraction would simply be a $100 fine.

The DA, used it against me. He claimed I had a history of court appearances. -See a few years I filed a restaining order against a boyfriend who beat me severely- it took a year to heal from the concussions. Being that I filed for a restraining order- I had a "history". After my former bf beat me to a pulp- my brothers offerred to beat his azz. I said no. Let the law handle it.
I did not know the law would use that against me.

I cant begin to tell you how this runined my life!

In retrospect- I should have had my brothers kick T.E.s azz.

One day- T.E. is going to come after me. He will come back from Philly all doped up, he will blame me for his wife commintting suicide. And under the influence - he will harm me.
After his wife learned he was gay- and dating me- she committed suicide.

So here I am.

Just a general comment:
I once saw a poster with a coast guard cutter (tiny) pulling over an aircraft carrier (huge) in an attempt to sieze it because there was a sailor on deck smoking a joint...I just wish I had a copy to post here.

If like a great many people you can't afford an attorney, you cry to let off the steam, or just deal with the humiliation, and pray for God to give you patience and keep you sane in an insane world.

The west coast is not as up tight but the police in LA run that part of the state like a police state. They're too much. The people are looser, more laid back. The police are more up tight. It' s the opposite on the east coast. At least in the NY area. Cops there are more laid back and willing to talk to you. The people are more up tight and snobish. At least that is what I've seen. I've lived in both areas.
Taking your personal property is BS. You give them an inch and they take a mile. Sure everyone thinks it's a great idea to stop drugs but once you open that door who knows how far they'll go. Start taking your car for speeding or running a stop sign. Sure that might seem reduclious now until they start doing it. Then they ( the cops) come up with some good reason why it's OK. It's just BS. Don't let them start in the first place for any reason is the only way to win.

Back to the original op. I would not want "open air" prostitution going on in my neighborhood. I have no problem with seizures or of listing the johns name in the paper, hopefully this provides a reasonable deterrent to people from partaking in such activities....My political slant on most topics is to the "left" but that being said...families and children do not need to be subjected on a daily basis to prostitution and the crime and drug use that often accompany this type of behavior.

I am an "outdoors" kind of guy...I don't hunt but definitely an avid fisherman... In Wisconsin if you poach....fishing or hunting....exceed limits, hunt/fish species out of season, you stand not only to lose all equipment used in your illegal pursuit, but any mode of transportation that enabled you to get there. As stated above, I have no problems with the laws when properly enforced...But I guess that is always the question...Do we trust the people in place who are supposed to enforce these laws?

From there I moved to a 3 bedroom, in a pricey zip code. My rent was $100.00. During such time- I have a bit of mattress money.

Housing prices tend to reflect what people earn in the area.

The worst prices in California were in Silicone Valley, but these were houses owned by people making 200k a year.

Los Angeles has inexpensive areas and expensive areas.

As someone with four generations worth of family from the inner-city {SF} and having travled all over the country.....San Francisco is by far the most liberal city of its size. I also agree with the Bob Marley comment lol!
