Well my date with the Marquis lasted a little longer than the weekend due to unforeseeable distractions, but it is now over. I have to say though as first dates go it was pretty disappointing.
I was all twinked up ready for some real debauchery, lasciviousness, lewdity and tribadic nuns and machiavellian monks. What i actually got was literally an education in the misfortunes of virtue. Maybe i should have been ready for this considering the title of the book - 'Justine or the misfortunes of virtue' !!
I did learn some new words (see above) which is always good and i also have a new fantasy (being tied face forward to a tree and flogged) so maybe it's not as bad as i thought.
Anyway wanna share some of your disappointing dates?

*Second date with the Marquis is going much better mmmmmm. I have just read 12 pages of Juliette and let me say she was the kinky one of the two (justine and juliette are sisters). So far i have tribadic nuns having lots and lots of fun.

He certainly is an aquired taste, and often makes it difficult to understand his point. I must go get replacements for mine having not read them for too many years

I understand his philosophy just thought it was pretty tame in the sadism department. I expected to be shocked, maybe even outraged at the depravity but i was far from it.

Having not read them for many years, I think perhaps the one that most would associate with sadism as we know it today would be 120 days, but I am likely wrong on that score, they all just sort of melded together and I never read them since that first sitting. I seem to recall that his kick was not actually pain as such, but power and being non-conformist, and using inflicting that pain as an expression of those along with various other ways of making himself "more" than the others he was using.

I had a date- picture this. I was laying in his bed on 2nd floor. My shoes and glasses were downstairs. His bf showed up. He said "quick hide!"

im thinking- how do i climb out a 2nd floor window w no shows, and drive 90 miles w no glasses?

1/2 hour later- he came to me - said everything was ok. I asked "who was that"- he said- "oh that was someone I loaned VHS movies too"

my fffking parrot is screaming at high decibels. someone send a female parrot NOW pls

I think you are probably right. However i do have one issue with this in that Sade in his own life was quite the sadist and even went to prison for his sadism on a prostitute once. Yet he said 'I do not wish to represent vice as being attractive. I do not want to make women adore the men who decieve them, but rather to detest them. I have made those of my heroes who tread the pathway of vice so utterly disgusting that they cannot inspire either pity or love.' Kind of pot, kettle, black in my opinion.
He also stated although i cant remember the exact quote that it was ok for a person to die at his hands for his pleasure but not to hang someone for a crime. He had good reasoning for the latter, his opinions on the prison service and its consequences were pretty spot on for me. However anyone willing to let their object of pleasure has to be into the causing of pain to a high degree surely?
