MistressYlwa -> Free Software (2/6/2007 11:44:40 AM)

Found this site by accident. They give away one new product every day. I don't download everything. But they do offer some interesting products.

SirKenin -> RE: Free Software (2/6/2007 3:50:27 PM)

Thank you very much for that.  I like free stuff.

mnottertail -> RE: Free Software (2/6/2007 3:56:45 PM)

SK, have you checked it for clean?  There were a couple things interesting I thought...
But I don't know where to check for legit.

missturbation -> RE: Free Software (2/6/2007 5:02:14 PM)

I'd rather have free hard ware [:D]

I downloaded a game there today and installed it on the other computer in a Domain User account.  If it does any damage it will be very limited.  So we will see I guess, but so far so good.  It passed scrutiny by my security software anyways.

I went up to a student today who said that her scenario was in the grocery store and told her my banana was bigger than those in the produce section.

Want my banana, missturbation?

Good question, I evidently picked something up from one of the downloads that caused major damage to my pc.  Today is the first time I've been able to get back on line.  I was told that I would have to reinstall a whole new window's program, but somehow after days and hours of tweeking, I'm here, but who knows for how long.

SirKenin -> RE: Free Software (2/14/2007 5:05:30 PM)

I have a number of things downloaded from there, but no infections yet and I have some pretty rigorous protection happening.  I would hasten to suggest that it came from somewhere else besides the actual software...?

pahunkboy -> RE: Free Software (2/14/2007 5:48:54 PM)

I tend to trust only cnet.  As it is of my 5 computers only 1 works.

Yahoo messenger help to kill my main computer.  YM would turn itself on and off at random.  I tried every trouble shooting trick I know. No luck. It is in teh shop now. BTW- i lost VALUABLE files before I had a chance to back em up. It will take years to find the gold mine I had found.

Don't trust shit unless you can get, inspect and compile the source code yourself. Even if YOU do not inspect and compile it, likely someone else has, and any deviation from the original source code ( Or hijinks present in the original source code itself ) would be discovered.

That's why that osswin link is so cool. It's all Free. Not just in price, but in Intellectual Property Freedom. You are free to take the code, inspect it, audit it, modify it, whatever.

Damned Hippies. But the software is SO good. e.g.: Audacity. ( 1st result in google )
http://audacity.sourceforge.net

If you don't need Protools, The Open Source program Audacity ( Available for Windows, Mac, and Miscellaneous ) does just fine.

HydroMaster -> RE: Free Software (2/14/2007 8:19:29 PM)

Well nothing on my PC has exploded yet, good sign.  My security software is saying the site has been tested and was cleared.  Thanks for the free stuff.  Already got a new games.

farglebargle -> RE: Free Software (2/14/2007 8:21:50 PM)

Well, Take care, and maybe go read Aileen68's thread on her dead pc. There's a LOT in there about backing up data.

Just in case.

SirKenin -> RE: Free Software (2/15/2007 10:00:42 AM)

In a room of 100, 3 people use mac.  So I figure out of a billion webpages there must be at least a dozen featuring the half a dozen titles available for Mac.  lol   [sm=evil.gif]
