Dear CandleInTheWind, Ladies and Gentlemen;

The Thoroughbred Breeding Registry does not allow artificial insemination.  They can only recognize breeding in hand or field breeding but, it has to all be natural.  Living not too far from Warrenton, Virginia--there is a Throughbred Breeding Registry office downtown Warrenton.  I had some pedigree research done, as well as transfer of papers done when I purchased my TB's.

Also, the American Quarter Horse Association and the American Morgan Horse Association does not recognize artificial insemination breeding practices.  It might be fine with non-pure bred horses but, not the pure breds.

Respectfully submitted,
Lady Hugs

You are correct LadyHugs Ma'am. Thoroughbred breeding is all live cover. The Jockey Club will not register artificail insemination foals as a thoroughbred. A company in Texas will clone your horse for $250,000. I have some mane hair from Seattle Slew & Sunday Silence. I could have them cloned for a bargin price when well bred foals are going for millions in the September sales, but they could  never race.

Wow, learn something new every day.  When I worked for small-animal vets, sometimes we'd have to verify fertility of a potential stud dog, and the vet would just don a rubber glove, shut the door, and then be subjected to a lot of teasing afterwards.  I honestly assumed they would somehow "milk" the semen from Barbaro for storage and use for future breeding.  What a shame.

Well said Peter.....

A true champion. His owners were kind in letting him go - and they were there holding him when he passed - as were all of the people involved in tryin to help him  stay alive......

He was well loved.....

It broke my heart watching the Preakness.... and I have been following his progress ever since that awful day,,,, My heart is broken now.

His owners did all that they could for that beautiful animal - and NOT for the money he could have earned them.

They did it from their hearts - out of LOVE - and that's the best gift that they could've given him. And he knew that he was loved.....

It's the best gift that we ALL can be given......

I've seen way too many races where the ambulance pulls up on the track, puts the white sheet around the poor horse, kills the poor baby, and pulls away.  I cry every time......

(My ex used to laugh at me for cryin..... ya think that's why he's my ex?      lmao.......Sorry - laughter through tears is my favorite emotion )

Rest in peace sweet  Barbaro - you were well loved.................

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

The Thoroughbred Breeding Registry does not allow artificial insemination.

I wonder why that is...?
