I have one and a picture of it is on my profile.  It's going to be modified this weekend.  I chose a phoenix because becoming active in the lifestyle after my divorce was certainly a rebirth.  The tail feathers wrap around the BDSM symbol.
My husband just got one on his upper arm last week of a dragon clutching the BDSM symbol.
LA would probably hate both of them, but I've gotten a lot of compliments on mine.

If you have to ask someone for ideas for a tattoo, you probbably shouldn't get one.  It's something that isn't easily (or cheaply) erased.  Wait till you find something that you cannot get out of your mind, something that you really want.

At least that is how I approach tattoos.

have to agree with la and studrottweiler.

that said, i have a phoenix (on my back), although it doesn't have the bdsm symbol in it, as mstrssscarlet's does. i doubt i'd ever get the bdsm symbol tattooed, although He plans to have me tattooed with His mark eventually (which, thank god, bears little to no resemblance to the bdsm symbol, hehehe), and i wear a ring with the bdsm symbol on it. i also have a tibetan om tattooed on my right hip, with a goddess symbol drawn in, symbolizing the two religious paths i've dedicated my life (and work) to.

the only other tats i could conceivably think of getting is a quote that i absolutely adore but am trying to find a suitable place on my body for, and His mark.

perhaps you could get something with knotwork, since it seems (from what teeny tiny bit of info there is in your profile) that you are really into bondage.

And truly, the tattoo should ideally come from inside out, so to speak. It makes no sense to me to get a picture of some 'thing' permanently drawn INTO YOUR BODY. Whatever it is ought to be something that is, in effect, just illuminating something in you. Or, alternatively, putting into you in a ritualistic way something you have carefully chosen.

I mean, Tweety Bird or Wile E Coyote or Yosemite Sam -- Yikes!

It's your friggin' body!

Ask for a dream before you sleep for a few days and you will very likely end up with a clear picture.

I agree that it needs to be something with meaning *to YOU*.  It took me about eight years to decide what I wanted.  I was very, very glad that I waited ~ otherwise I'dve had a unicorn or dragon or some other 'cutesy' fantasy image.  I decided on a hummingbird and then looked at many, many books and pictures for about a year before I decided on the final design.  I have now had my tat for almost ten years and am still just as happy with it as when I first got it.
I'm considering adding some type of flower (Hummingbird appropriate) possibly to include a vine that wraps my ankle.  Which would be the only 'bondage' related part of it and subtle enough that I'm likely the only one that will 'get it'.  That's okay ~ the art after all is for me, NOT for the general masses...

My first tattoo was an inverted cross on my ankle at 13 that was later transformed into a fish skeleton (they called me fishead).  The next two tatoos at 15 and 16 were a sun and a moon on my wrists.  I then got some tribal off the wall at 17 on my right biceps (it was an impulse tattoo), I drew a set of eyes that are variants of the eye of Ra that are on my forearm one chrome one gold to match the colors of the sun and the moon (the left fist to wake you up, and the right one to put you to sleep) at 18.  at 19 I drew a coat of arms that is on my left biceps.  I drew a design and tattooed it myself on my stomach at 20, and at 31 I haven't had another tattoo since. 

All my tattoos mark a time in my life.  Like mile markers on the interstate....

I have a band of morning glories around my right wrist and a vine with purple water-lily-like flowers around my left ankle that trails down onto the top of my foot.  At the end of December, I had a Celtic knot done on my left shoulder blade.  There is an M in the center of the knot (all 4 of my UMs' names [and mine] begin with M) and their middle initials are around the outside of the knot. 
 
The idea for each one took me many years to concieve and I was blessed to find a brilliant tattoo artist here in Edmonton to made my ideas a reality.  I concur that each one should be something that touches your soul in some way.  Good luck!!

I've  known i wanted another tattoo for years,   But since i agree with those who have stated that for them it must be something of  significance to them, I haven't gotten another.

Just browse and think, get what speaks to you.

My sub and I are getting matching tattoos of a dragon clutching a BDSM symbol which has a rose in each  of the swirly things lol I do not know what they are called. A black rose for Dominants, a blue rose for subs and a purple rose for switches.

That's the triskellion :)

I've never been able to adopt it as a "bdsm symbol" though I recognize that many do.  For me it would be like making a menorah into a symbol for fireplay.

Generally speaking, a triskelion or triskele is a symbol with three interlocked spiral somethings. The BDSM symbol as a triskele. There's a whol big controversy about whether or not Quagmyr can or can't have copyrighted the symbol. Some say the symbol is too old to be available for copyright, he contends he's copyrighting a very specific design of triskele.*shrug* I like the Leather Pride Flag better, myself. (sometimes, it's represented by a colored bar with a heart) or the Master/slave emblem.

I say get a bleeding rose chained to a triskellion under a menorah with all but 1 candle lit to represent your unfinished journey...

I often laugh at the limited amount of originality and creativity people put into their tattoos, but then again sometimes the "tramp stamp" butterfly or the Taz tattoo means just as much to the people that get it as my artwork means to me. Those people scare me but they are out there...

oooh ooh, get like "i like cheese" done in chinese lettering, then you can tell people it means something different. But it will look origonal.

I have 14 tattoo's. The last one was done on MY ribs is a pic of a woman (Dawn from the comic) chained to a brick wall. I am about to get another one on the other set of ribs of a woman kneeling at her Master's feet as He has a collar and chain on her neck. To each his own if you like who cares what others think. I like Mine but others may not. I don't get ink of others I get it for ME.

Have a rose on the head of my penis.  Goes from a small rose to a bigger rose depending on circumstances.  Was rather interesting having it done by a lady tattoo artist.
