Of course the universe itself will one day come to an end, either in a Big Crunch or gradually flying apart due to entropy. Life is a fight against entropy but it is an ultimately losing battle.

I did not state that the sun would never die. I simply pointed out that it will eventually burn out all of it's hydrogen and become a dark, cold, massive object.

For a star to go nova (explode) it has to have a certain amount of mass to convert to a nickel 70 core, at which point it explodes shooting the nickel core out (it is an asymmetrical explosion) one direction or the other.

I see it the same way as many others. There is very little we can do to change the environmental situation, short of completely changing our lives (Stop driving, stop heatig in winter, stop dealing with unethical companies [all of them] and essentially go back to living like cavemen.) (Oh yeah, and kill off about 4/5 of the population)

However, what we are doing while we're still here is changing the course of evolution, nothing more. If all the waterways have mercury in them, fish will, in a few thousand years, use that mercury for something. They will adapt. If we destroy the rainforest, the atmosphere will change. That aint the first time.

So yanno what? Enjoy it, folks. If you don't, you can never gloat to your kids.
