Screw bumper traffic, crapy parking, shoulder to shoulder crowds, and the long wait in lines. This year, I did my shoping on line. All items had the same sales and some of the stores had no shiping fees. Even with shiping fees, it evens out when you buy gas and something to eat at the mall. If you're worried about keeping something a suprise, just have the item mailed to a friends or realitives address. On line shoping was great, I didn't even have to get dressed for the occasion.

I imagine that men the world over are probably thankful for the internet particularly when it comes to Holiday shopping, FangsNFeet. I like it, too!

I got that beat.  I did all gift cards this year, which we happen to sell at my store.  Everyone taken care of in one shopping trip in one 15 minute break.

I generally think giftcards are ok in some situations, like if you don't know what they want or they don't know but it's tacky if ya just couldn't care less about going out hehe. I let my mom do the buying for epople I don't care about. she thinks that aunts and uncles an stuff who never bother to contact you sept for the once a year duty need gifts, so she picks out something nice on behalf of all of us, then says this gift is from chris this is from glenn an I just go with it.

I agree Fangs, Since I am not a shopping lover- hate malls I have been xmas shopping online for the last 5 years. It is so easy- fast. I sit with my coffee and in a couple hours I'm done.

I do almost all of my shopping online and would be lost without it now. I hate malls and crowds. I also start early to avoid last minute stress over it and keep the cost spread out.

Another thing I am doing more and more is giving gifts I have made rather than purchased. At first, several years ago, I was pretty stressed about doing that. I realized I saw less value in things I created than in things I bought. The truth was the opposite. So now, I give homemade fudge, pralines, preserves, fresh breads or pastries, small paintings or photographs. People love it! And, I love doing it for them. I even go to the antique consignment shops to look for cool things to put it in.

i spend way too much money on ebay and amazon.

bad me buying stuff for me.

i found- with adults- since most seem to have everything they want- there is no gift like cash.

Thanks to all you online shoppers...!!!!!  I run an online biz and generally beat the retail store prices by quite abit. I also live in the boonies and also do most of my shopping online. Isn't it great....don't have to go out of the house or dress up....then in a couple of days a uniformed messenger in a big brown truck shows up and dumps something on your front porch. I fuckin luv it!

You forgot the part about perhaps where maybe they prefer gift cards so tey can pick their own things rather than have someone else decide what they want.  I have no one on my gift list under age 25 except Angel. Let them do their own shopping.
And somehow I fail to see how my putting the effort into getting someone a gift card is "tacky" when you just let someone else do your shopping for those you "dont care about".  I care greatly about everyone on my list, which is why they are on my list. Thats why they get gift cards, I care enough to give the very best... freedom of gift choices!

Besides, with a gift card, theres no issue with having t return something that doesnt fit, or they already have... and returns after Christmas are always a hassle and a half. Working retail, I know its a disaster.

I just do my shopping way early.  While I've always enjoyed online shopping because you can price compare and find more unique items easier, this is the first year I've engaged in it seriously so that I could have things shipped home rather than have to carry ALL the gifts with me on the plane.

With the exception of one really awful ridiculous experience I've had, I find online shopping to be a fabulous thing.  But it will never take over the joy of wrapping and personally handing over a gift to someone for me.

Alas, I'll be running around shopping last minute once again.   I just can't deal with shopping until finals are over; at that point, it's hard to shop online.

What makes it a little easier is that my friends and I have come to the agreement to swap Christmas cards and baked goods, but not "gifts" per se.

Family is a little tougher, so I'll be doing some power shopping over the next couple days.   Ugh!
