Medical Tape Problem - 12/10/2006 4:17:36 PM

I just got my tatto fixed (it looks FANTASTIC) and I have all this stuff on me from the medical tape that they use to hold the saran wrap on.  I have tried everything I can think of (soap, exfoliant, pumice stone, everything short of Ajax powder) and I can't get it off.  It looks really gross, does anyone have any other ideas to get it off?

rubbing alcohol will take it off. just take a shower, then put some rubbing alcohol on some cotton (or grab some alcohol squares) and rub it off.

Naptha (aka, Zippo lighter fluid) will take it right off.  Just wash the area again with soap and warm water and don't smoke while you're using it.

Nail polish remover.

Ditto.  It's the acetone you need, not the alcohol.

believe it or not...baby oil and a terry cloth facecloth...the baby oil denatures the adhesive and thent he terry cloth helps rub it off...

I use a pain patch and every other day have to remove a really rotten case of goobers as i call the residue....it is best if someone else does it for you  becasue most of the time you cant get a good positiion to do it so have fun

little red

WD 40 also works fabulously as well for any kind of adhesive removal on any kind of object  I have never used it on pieces or parts of th ehumna body  but well it works on the same premise as baby oil

I'm wondering if these tips would also help with the residual stickiness left over from taking off a birth control patch. There's always a little ring of dirt, fabric, and adhesive left when I change mine.

A medical supply store should have adhesive remover wipes in there colostomy supply sections. Hollister makes some good stuff that should get the job done.

So when do we get to see your tatoo?

Actually adhesive remover is just  alcohol and some acetone and some stuff to make it less irritating to the skin around the stoma. You can spend the money on adhesiver remover or just buy nail polish remover or rubbing alcohol. I found this out when I went to a wound/ colostomy seminar a few years. Who knew!

Cute tattoo. And I'm gonna friend you because I honestly don't have a lot of MySpace friends. Don't use it a lot, but I am there.

Thank you, you should have seen it before I got it fixed, it looked really jank (to borrow the phrase from my friend Andrea).
It was all lop-sided and shakey in the one part, it took a long time (and a lot of tattooing through scar tissue, ouchie) to fix it.

I'll never understand all this birth control crap.

I've never in all my 48 years taken birth control pills or even used a patch and I've never once gotten pregnant.

I used the Ring, but only because I get The Horrible Cramps from Hell if I didn't.  I am off of it now because of financial reasons and spend about 3 or 4 days each month barely able to move.

siamsa, your county health department or Planned Parenthood should have the NuvaRing available on a slilding scale - if you don't make much, you don't pay much
